The flash is not a cause for a nuke, larger explosions have flash effects.
Even a small nuke would cause devastation to a large area of the city.

Do not get me wrong, by no means do I think that IDF has used a nuke. But Hamas has underground tunneling system, not as extensive as say the Vietcong, but they have one. Not to mention the underground bunkers from which Hamas is coordinating resistance. A bunker penetrating atomic device (epw) could be used, because it would not damage the surrounding buildings but would penetrate and cut off the tunnel system. Do I think they used it? No. Would they? Yes. It is not against the Geneva Convention to use tactical nuclear devices. If IDF is really about limiting civilian casualties, this would be the type they would use.

Baby Nuke sounds great, the real name of it isnt that far off. Mini Nuke

As for the idea that no nation has used a nuclear device of any kind since hiroshima, that would be correct for strategic weapns, but Russia itself admitted to using tac nukes in afghanistan in the 80s. Its completely possible that the US used one in Iraq a few years back. These things are no more than "super" missles, not really what would be considered WMD. Something to note, a bunker buster was in recent development here in the states, something called RNEP or other. But supposedly funding was cut. I think thats bs as Iran has DUMBs of their own and the RNEP could, would be perfect for taking those out.

In the event of a nuke.. This would be changed very quickly..

It is 5 Minutes to Midnight

Keep an eye on the Doomsday clock, if you feel a nuke has been used.

The doomsday clock has seen 2 mins to midnight..
It would be a safe bet.. That if either side was to use even a small nuke.
The clock would change..

Its been 5 mins to midnight for some time now. Not really to sure how truthfull the clock is.. But Ive come to find it atleast something to consider when thinking about nukes.

The nuclear age dawned in the 1940s when scientists learned how to release the energy stored within the atom. Immediately, they thought of two potential uses--an unparalleled weapon and a new energy source. The United States built the first atomic bombs during World War II, which they used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. Within two decades, Britain, the Soviet Union, China, and France had also established nuclear weapon programs. Since then, Israel, India, Pakistan, and North Korea have built nuclear weapons as well.

Trinity was her name.. And she was the first nuke to ever go off in this world.. Or atleast as far as we are told..
Thinking about Trinity gives me freakin chills.. Down to the bone chills.

First of all, Holy crappers that was a big one!!!

Second of all, Twitch, Im not saying for sure it was one either. It just looked suspicious and I wouldnt put it past them is all.

Last but not least, come on sunrise!!! What is it, an hour, hour and a half to go before we can actually see something. Well, that is, IF they dont smoke them out again.

Large explosion @ 10:20EST! Seems like the most fighting comes with the Gaza sunrise which is soon to come. 5:20am Gaza time currently. Singing and explosions on this Sunday morning.

Nice find and damn that was a loud explosion - the cockerel didn't seem phased by it at all.

My thoughts go out to the people living there.

I got home from work about two hours ago and I just now caught up with all the posts since I last posted before I left this morning (page 27 lol)

First off I want to thank blupblup
so thank you! and you know what for!
I also want to thank everyone for keeping this thread going and alive to share our thoughts, fears, worries, sadness and all the strange and perhaps new emotions we are feeling. It was a nice way to vent without delving into the 'battle' that seems to take over most israel/palestinian threads started.

This feed encompassed my thoughts throughout the entire day today and to come home to the news of more death after the WP bomb I saw this morning (i really was hoping that wasn't what I saw) and that the deaths included children was overwhelming me in emotions.

right now we are watching ambulances .... heartwrenching.... and more prayers. I cannot stay up and watch this again tonight as it took its toll on me last night and I have to return to work at 6 am tomorrow.

I will check in again (and try to catch up on the thread, as I like to read everyone's comments) tomorrow morning before I leave for work and again when I return. May we all keep up our hopes that this will be over soon.

I am disgusted by this war.

A major air assault against a location which is defenseless against such an attack is both disproportional, and tyrannical in nature. Therefore, in accordance with modern military doctrine, it is an unfair fight!

I would also request that ATS members show a little respectability and dignity in a time when every bomb means death and suffering for some (already) poor family in a residential area!

This fight HAS TO BE WAGED if the conflict is ever to end.

Calls for cease-fires only prolong the fighting and more people die.

It's time for the IDF to step in and kick some serious ass - take some names and WIPE THEM OUT, WHOLESALE.

It's the only way this will end.

One side HAS TO BE VICTORIOUS for this to end.

I'm betting on the IDF!

Im mildly offended by that comment, how about you set the example.

I feel practically all participating in this thread have shown Boundless "respectability and dignity".

Any way sorry for off topic.

The fact that Im watching the sun rise over Gaza is just mind blowing. I wish it was under different circumstances.

Cant help but wonder what the people there are doing right now, or how they are feeling. I can imagine the sunrise gives a bit of relief, yet not knowing what you are going to see would be scary.

You're very easily offended. It's for those that think that ''big'' flashes or ''bombs'' are some 'cool' experience for them. Most responses are impeccable, whether shown or not! It's just a reminder, nothing more!

I've already lived through such bombing campaigns on the ground, and believe me, watching it is nothing to be running a commentary of the types of bombs used for some quiz, etc!!

By the way, wind your neck in. I have set an example by stating how I felt and not going any further, as have plenty other members.

To "request that ATS members show a little respectability and dignity" when no one has been out of line is a bit strange, but to each their own I guess.

It is sort of amazing to me how beautiful Gaza is. Once the sun comes up it really seems like a nice place. Of course, ending this conflict would certainly make it a whole lot nicer...

When someone punches you in the nose, you don't just punch them back, you run them over with a freight train so they will never pull that stunt again.
