Im just curious. Is there some sort of organization that regulates material on the internet ?
It seems that the internet needs to be more filtered, there is simply to much " crap " being observed my millions. Offensive, racial, sexist, you name it, the internet has it.

We don't want that! If anyone gets the power to do that, where will it stop? Maybe people find conspiracy theories offensive -- would ATS have to be closed down as a result?

No, but it could be good in shutting down other offensive materials on the internet. Child porn, Hate sites, and other offensive material should be tracked down and gotten rid of.

Television does not show, child porns nor racist broadcasts, why should the internet?

Child porn, yes, there is a watch dog group, they're called the FBI. Hate sites, however, are protected by the first ammendment. And I'm sure a lot of them are located here in the US.

And in additional defense of hate sites, by going to those sites and reading the moronic drivel that spews from their fingertips, we can recognise just how wacky these people are, and who they are. Without the freedom to do that, we could wind up electing a president who really hates all them blacks, jews, and chinese, but we'd have no idea, because any time he was going to say something about that, it would have to be underground, out of the public's eye. As an example, look at David Duke.

There's this little thing called freedom of speech. As long as it's not illegal, it should be allowed to be on the internet, as lame or bad as it may be. Besides, the internet is global, one government can't control it (though they sure as hell will try). But internet control is exactly what we DON'T WANT. EVER.

Yes and no. There is a organization: The Internet Engineering Task Force

The IETF is not a membership organization (no cards, no dues, no secret handshakes :-)
The IETF is a large open international community of network designers, operators, vendors, and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet. It is open to any interested individual.

The actual technical work of the IETF is done in its working groups. To become a participant in the IETF, one merely becomes active in one or more working groups by asking to be added to the WG's mailing list.

This problem:

- is no related to Internet. Our civilization looks like that and Internet is only another window to observe The End of that world.
