Food Dance Gets New Life When Bees Get Cocaine


To learn more about the biochemistry of addiction, scientists in Australia dropped liquefied freebase coc aine on bees’ backs, so it entered the circulatory system and brain.

The scientists found that bees react much like humans do: coc aine alters their judgment, stimulates their behavior and makes them exaggeratedly enthusiastic about things that might not otherwise excite them.

Do we really need to do this kind of stuff,don't we know enough about the effects of coc aine use?

I wonder how many years they tried to get them to hold little straws before they tried freebasing.

Now, scientists are studying whether bees begin to crave coc aine and need more for the same effect, like humans.

To what end?

Don't we have problems with bees disappearing?
Maybe this is a way to get them to keep coming back.

I suspect this whole thing was "concoketed" by students as an excuse.
