To behonest anything in that area is a possible, just being where it is makes it a risk, so hopefully nothing more will happen and this is the movment back rather than anything else,

But.. with these things and mother nature at work.... who knows,

I think the Earth might be ready to say enough is enough with all the killing going that and Yellowstone acting up who knows!

Oh and the 2 quakes you were questioning were inputted into this international database by ... the USGS.

no its just that USGS only reports two 7+ quakes and so do all the news agencies. two of the 7+ quakes on RSOE don't seem to have been properly registered (incomplete date and time - makes me think its an incorrect entry on their side), and the other two that are properly registered match up with the ones reported by USGS.

Well it's really not worth arguing about but they do have specific time stamps, lat and longitude, and specific cities listed in the details section. It's just the 00.00.0000 (date) that's throwing you off I think.

also if you look at those two quake events on RSOE that don't match up, you'll see that it says they are computer-generated and have not yet been reviewed by a seismologist.

Another 5.1 just hit.
second line.

Yes all of them are. They are directly from the sensors around the world. They just haven/t
been human reviewed yet.

another aftershock.. they do seem to be getting gradually smaller so hopefully the worst is over!

I'll be happier if I see them more than an hour apart though. None of them have been more than that so far.

I'm sorry if I sounded a little testy earlier... You'd think that database was my baby or something!
But seriously I think we should use all the data available to us. I'm wondering now if the USGS doesn't have equipment in the areas those other EQs were or something???

hehe no problem, although i have to say i'm still not convinced. it would be great if there were other sources backing up what RSOE says. i think i trust USGS more... who knows though!

another good site to look at is the EMSC (European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre) - www.emsc-csem.org.... this also only shows two 7+ quakes. what is great about this site is that you can search through past quakes. according to the EMSC there have only been four 7+ quakes in Indonesia this entire year, so for two to occur in one day is certainly quite something!

Whilst i believe that efforts are made to predict earthquakes using all the technology available the specific location and magnitude are mother earths own knowing .A tsunami warning can only be issued after the actual event and information has been gathered and interpreted . The only unusual anomaly that i can bring forward to this thread is that i find it very unusual that no known seismic events have ever been recorded of the Nevada test site and surrounding areas , even though for decades underground workings have been taking place (allegedly) .

Looks like another small after shock is coming up in Indonesia. I'm watching a seismograph from a station in Indonesia on GEE and it suddenly got active again.

Thanks for that information. Could you please post a link to the station? Thanks

I wish I could do that, but Gee is a software program free to download. And I haven't figured out how to even show you a screenshot. GEE is a great program designed for those students studying earthquakes. You can access any station all around the world with live seisomograph feeds.

Google GEE download and you will find a link to access the program.

My firefox quake alert just notified me of what I stated earlier on what I saw on the GEE seisomograph. Another 5,4 in Papua, Indonesia

Thanks, will do that. Another 5.4 just hit the same area, no doubt an aftershock.

My GEE seismograph for Indonesia is showing another small aftershock. Should be smaller than the last 5.4. Firefox's quake alert is about five minutes behind.
