Remember thos fired Iraqis soldiers? I knew they were going to bite us in the back.
Disbanding the Iraqi army was a bad idea in the first place. They could have been used to help maintain law and order but Donald Rumsfeld really
pissed off those Iraqis when he had them fired. Now they're probably the same guys who are attacking our troops.
Just before the war a year ago, Britain's top military officer at the time, Admiral Sir Michael [now Lord] Boyce, issued a directive to his
commanders in the field to negotiate with senior Iraqi officers, the Guardian has learned. The idea was for senior officers in the Iraqi army and
Republican Guard to help maintain law and order under the supervision of senior British officers.
