Please excuse my ignorance with this question if it has been answered before but I have tried to find any info on this for a while and personally have not been able to.

Did anyone ever question late astronaut Gordon Cooper as to why his sighting of so-called extra-terrestrial vehicles were flying not only in a formation, but a formation that would surely only be familiar to earth craft and particularly the military as Fighter Formation?

It's always flumoxed me and so knowing the little I do could only come to the following explanations;

1. Either they were not extra terrestrial

2. They wanted to get noticed

3. It was a threat

If we flew craft to another planet that we had become aware was populated and learned that a certain flight formation was used in war, surely that would be the last thing we would do so as to prevent a confrontation?

It doesn't make sense to me, these witnesses always say there seems to be no threat from these sightings, so who's telling lies or being deceived?

Cooper's first claim was even more interesting. If I remember it right...Some colleagues at an AFB went into the desert to record footage of a new aircraft. Fly-bys and manouvres etc. Shortly after they arrived a UFO landed nearby and remained there briefly while one of the guys filmed it. All in broad daylight. Naturally, they reported the incident as soon as they got back to base. The report went through Cooper's office and the film was canned and ready to send to a higher authority. Cooper looked at the film negatives and affirmed that he could indeed see a saucer type UFO. There's a video of Cooper talking about his UFO experiences here.

Between him and Dr Edgar Mitchell (another astronaut), it's heavy stuff
They're experienced, intelligent and trusted by the US Govt to go to the moon. I can't accept that they are lying and I can't accept it as truth. Like you, I can't make sense of it all. It seems that if there were UFOs at that time, they came to be seen, not to hide. If there has been contact, why is it secret? Seems to me, there would need to be a very, very good reason to keep schtum all these years. What that reason could be is anyone's guess

Have you ever read Jerry Cohen's site cohenufodotorg ?

He states that Cooper also claimed to be at a landing which was a complete lie! Jim Oberg (?) says Cooper placed himself into this case when he had nothing to do with.It gets stranger and stranger.

The whole thing gives me a headache. Really. Colonel Corso was the same. High ranking, excellent provenance and a story full of holes. Not one credible guy seems to maintain 100% credibility. There's often a glaring element that lets it all down. If you watch the Disclosure Project video, it starts well. The 'wow' factor kicks in bigtime! Gradually, some of the stories start to shriek out, "BS!!!"

I lost interest years ago when I accepted that there's no clear way through all the BS. Big headaches! My interest is back, but I still accept there's no answers. It's good to read that you're really thinking about it and not taking anything at face value. A lot of ATS folk talk in facts about things with shaky evidence
Some of the ATS guys are fantastic examples of neutrality examine evidence. I'm gonna go and check out the site you recommended. Thanks

edited for clarity and spelling!

ok lets say ducks are aliens. If you flew in a V-shaped formation does that make the duck a hostile alien? Maybe its the standard long distance traveling formation.

Formation should have nothing to do with the hostility of a craft. When you see a lazer mark a smiley face on your right butt cheek, then consider them hostile.

Not sure if I'm way off with this as I am not entirely clued up on your story but....

Flying in formation is not something that would only be known to humans. Take a look here, there are good reasons to fly in a V... even birds can work that out by the looks of things. Unless ofcourse birds are highly intelligent life froms from another planet??

All the incidents are written about in Colonel Cooper's book "Leap of Faith". The incident of the UFO landing was filmed. Col Cooper (a captain back then) was ordered not to look at the film. He looked at the negatives instead, and saw the craft and its landing gear. On the disk formation he encountered as a pilot, he stated they were not ours nor the Russians. The late Colonel Cooper is considered a reliable witness, and one of the few astronauts to have more than one sighting personally.

Thanks everyone for the answers, I'm a complete idiot, didn't think of birds. Very embarassed...

Jerry Cohen replied too with same answer.

It just seems that if someone like Gordon Cooper and others are prepared to talk then why then after so many decades our govs would make some official statement.

Thanks again, I'm going to crawl under a rock somewhere 'till my embarassment has worn off...
