There will be a lot of people who will need healing.

A deceased body will become nothing but a health hazard and unfortunately large scale crematoriums will take over as a governmental form of disposition of a deceased.

Never thought of it from that viewpoint

Solar and wind energy - People who know how to configure panels, batteries, transformers, etc, to augment their electricity with solar and wind will be busy.

Law enforcement or Medicine. Both will always be required regardless of the economy or global events.

Myself i am going to do a midlife switch to nursing. Security in my later years is a must, my health is better than my BF's so one of us has to be secure. Nursing has great benefits (sadly it's unionized but that's another issue) and nurses are always in demand. If I go for my RN once finished my BAcN I increase my worth in the job market by 20% and add an additional 15K to my paycheck depending on where on for whom I practice.

Starting wage for a nurse in ontario is 54K. RN is 63+-. Plus I can continue to practice after retirement age so no forced retirement and lowered income in my old age.
Five years + of schooling is a bit scary at 40 years old but hey - life's an adventure right?

law enforcement will always be required as well - that was my first choice but really I don't like authority well enough to conform.

I think computer security and the various medical fields (not M.D. but pretty much anything else) are good bets.

Nursing, definitely go for an RN.

Alternative medicine will probably be good too.

I think there will probably be a reorganization in the medical field too, with more emphasis on coordinating between different types of maintenance medicine (nutrition, exercise, mental health, spiritual health, pharmaceutics, herbalism, etcetera) among a rapidly aging population. Possibly a growth in some sort of "personal medical manager" type position – someone who's not an expert in any one field but can help coordinate a health plan.

If you have the potential to be given security clearance you should consider taking an EMT course and applying for Blackwater,U.S.A.

I'm on the ground floor in the nuclear power industry. Looks promising. All the baby boomer nuclear operators are going to be retiring soon. Plus they just put through contracts for 35 new nuclear power plants, so that will be a pretty abundant job.

in the next 10 years they will need 10.000 new turbine techs a year.

That is at the rate they are building wind turbines now.

Under Obama that rate may go up by 500%

Most companies will hire you as soon as you graduate from a training course.

Many companies have recruiters that are working at the collages that train wind turbine tech.

a word if you take a training course finish and graduate.
many companies try to recruit techs before they graduate so the they do not have to pay top wages.

but you will find that your pay never gets as high as the people that are graduates of a tech course.

the difference is you could be a tech that changes the oil in the gear box on top of the tower or you could be the tech that does the repairs on the computer system that runs the wind turbine and are payed 3x as much
