I just found this really cool resource and wanted to share.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if a nuclear bomb goes off in your city? With Google's Maps framework and a bit of Javascript, you can see the outcome.

Basically they use google earth and superimpose damage projections depending on what kind of weapon or even asteroid strike.

The tool is available here: carloslabs.com

A thorough explanation of this tool can also be found at bldgblog.com under the heading "Nuclear Urbanism"

This is a simulation...

The first city to come up when I clicked your link was New Delhi!?. I'm not panicking, but # is that creepy foreshadowing or what?

I know, it did the same for me.
I guess they are going with the most likely target considering present conditions.

The first location that popped up for me was Amsterdam...

The second was Madrid... I think the starting location is totally random.

when i put the marker over the nearest military target about 10 miles away it showed that i would survive every thing but a 50 mt or asteroid impact

and this is what my old civil defence training in to 1970s showed that gives me the time to get out of town to my mine/shelter

the only thing i have to worry about is the asteriod because it could hit anywhere and i am not worried about the 50 mt device because it would be a over kill plus a waste for a enemy to ever think of using one on so low a value target.

they would use the 50 mt on somewhere like LA Calif and that would be no big loss
