Bush Revokes Pardon

www.foxnews.com

President Bush on Wednesday retracted one of the 19 presidential pardons he granted just before the Christmas holiday.

The White House announced that Isaac Toussie, a Brooklyn developer convicted of fraud and making false statements to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, should not be granted clemency.

It looks like he must have really done something to make Bush unhappy. I doubt he pardoned him because he is an actual crook, or Bush wouldn't have pardoned any of his buddies.

I feel like there is something deeper involved here, I just know it...

Time will tell, and ATS will find out. I don't know much about the guy yet, but I know hes not the only crook around up there.

Well, it looks like Bush pardoned the guy, until it came to light that his father had been making some sizable contributions to the GOP, so Bush took the pardon back.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I'm glad he took it back.

Some people will find anything to complain about President Bush. If he hadn't taken it back then he would be helping out a buddy. He did the right thing so there must be something deeper then what has been reported.

Notice how the OP left out the part about him finding out the guys dad he pardon had made contributions to the GOP.

And people complain how the major news station never tells the whole story.

Imagine that. Your in jail and all of the sudden, a one in a million chance, PRESIDENTIAL PARDON!!! You tell all of the hard ass Bubba's and the people who have given you trouble what you think of them knowing that you won't see their caged butts ever again.
Then, Bush says "Psyche!!"

What I don't understand is how Bush just gave a pardon and really didn't know too much about the case. Honestly, do they just pick names out of a hat and work out the details later? You would just think, if he is going to pardon someone he would do a little more better job of researching or at least his people who hands him the names.

New updates:

CNN

Among the questions now being asked are:

• Why didn't the White House conduct a more thorough investigation of Toussie's background?

• Why did White House Counsel Fred Fielding circumvent the typical pardon application process by directly considering Toussie's clemency request instead of leaving it to the Justice Department?

• Did Toussie get special treatment because of his political connections?

Did is what I have been saying all along. I guess time will tell?

Photo Surfaces of Bush and Toussie

A stunning photo of President Bush shaking hands with the father of pardoned - then unpardoned - housing scammer Isaac Toussie emerged Friday as the White House reeled from the embarrassing scandal.
...
It was not immediately clear if the picture was snapped before or after Robert Toussie's $28,500 donation to the Republican National Committee in April.

Bush pardoned Isaac Toussie on Tuesday. The President took the extraordinary step of rescinding the pardon the next day, after reading about the political contribution in The News.

I'm not sure what to think about this story. I doubt Bush would have pardoned him in the first place if he had known about the contributions. But it's hard to say...
