Why Is The U.S. Military Preparing For Massive Civil Disorder?

A new report from the U.S. Army War College’s Strategic Studies Institute says that the U.S. military must quickly prepare for massive civil unrest that could be precipitated by an “unforeseen economic collapse”.

The following is a quote from this stunning report: “DoD might be forced by circumstances to put its broad resources at the disposal of civil authorities to contain and reverse violent threats to domestic tranquility. Under the most extreme circumstances, this might include use of military force against hostile groups inside the United States."

This comes on the heels of a recent report that the Department of Defense plans to deploy 20,000 uniformed troops for operations inside the United States by 2011.

The purpose of the 130 year old Posse Comitatus Act was to prevent the military from being used in domestic law enforcement.

Think of how many major cities as well as sprawling suburbs and out of the way small towns exist here....

next think of how many of our citizens are armed....

now ask yourself...what chance does 20,000 soldiers have in a country such as this.

Would they train for civil unrest...sure...they're the army they train for all kinds of scenarios.
Would they ever declare martial law....from coast to coast? They may...but there's absolutely no chance of it being anything other than a complete failure.

Get a grip....I'd be more worried about d4rk kn1ght, or alien invasion, than martial law....

Well I guess one can to look at it in a couple of different ways.

It can be viewed as an attempt to force upon the country's citizens military rule, such as a take over attempt by an over zealous general or group within the government.

Or, maybe it can be viewed as simple preparedness. I'm with ya on the Posse Comitatus Act. I would imagine the purpose of the law was to ensure a military coup would never happen. But I would also think that after of the state of Louisiana and city of New Orleans failed their citizens after Katrina, I would expect that W & Co. probably decided that never again would he allow anyone to have a reason to accuse him of the ridiculous things of which he was accused after that storm blew over. I'm sure he fully intends to be ready if some catastrophe happens again, not only to battle the stupid accusations tossed his way, but to take care of his fellow citizens, most importantly, because the state and city wouldn't do it.

I for one will not tolerate martial law. Look how much trouble the military had in Faluja, or any other hot spot. I can't see them, even with UN Troop support, subduing the great USA. Now, if there is a rapture first, or a massive viral outbreak, or something that negates a huge chunk of the populous, it may be more probable. However, a healthy American populous, currently armed....I don't think any invader, foreign or domestic, stands much of a chance.

Wow. They're going to put 400 soldiers in every state?

That's real trouble, the kind I lose a lot of sleep over.

Or, if you watched the show Jericho, you might want to ask if yourself if we're being prepared for something more? And so are they...

yeah,, 20,000 troops trained to lead 2 million more,,, then add local police,l the volunteer guards etc etc and yeah you'll have a robust force,,,

besides we all move by road now,,, control the roads,,, i bet you could control the people


how may people get caught in those police roadblocks,,,,,now times that by the military,,,,,pretty tough to move i bet

granted if your in a remote location to begin with,,,well yeah,,,,, but most of us are by pretty urban areas,,, and definitely use major highways

many could slip by,,, but far more will get caught in the nets

I don't argue that that can't happen.....
I just don't see what good the military declaring martial law would have....they'd be stretched way to thin. If it was that easy, we'd have been out of Iraq years ago.

I think they are training and preparing to lock down pockets for certain scenarios(not excluding financial collapse). There's simply no way to lock down the entire US.

I think most of you are missing something.

Highway Patrol
State police / Troopers
County Sheriffs
City Police
Federal Game Wardens (armed)
Forestry Agents (armed)
DEA
FBI
ATF
Corporate Security
I've probably missed some but I think you can can the picture if just a good percentage of these forces are going to follow orders from the US Military for the "Security of the Country"
There are already joint exercises taking place.
Corporations are being rewarded for being ready to help in crowd control as well.
I forgot: we have foreign troops (U.N.) on our soil as well. As well as hundreds of U.N. support vehicles in storage yards.

I believe marahll law could be accomplished through media coverage. If the media covers major cities around the country with massive amounts of people bing killed as examples. Then people would be in fear mode and would surrender because they are afraid of what might happen to them if they went against the military. There are many types of weapons that could be used in just a few major cities to accomplish mass fear and control.

It could be that Obama is seting the stage with his civilian army? Would we be policing each other?

Oh yes. Did you see the Non-Lethal Ray gun on 60 Minutes some months back. Why do you think the media showed it to the public. So that they will be in fear as to what the military has in order to keep "order" They want the public to know that they will treat you "humanely" if you decided to protest and / or riot.

what would be the use of causing a civil war? Even if the government, and military were that evil that they'd provoke something like that for the goals of restructuring world affairs, don't you think they'd find a more efficient' less messy, less costly way of breaking up the US?
