Ok maybe this is stupid and I'm just looking for some conspiratorial reason for the problem I ran in to, but here goes:

Are greeting cards companies attempting to make a statement by not offering cards for certain male relatives?

Here is the problem: I am currently in Phoenix, AZ, and I have visited 6 stores (yes 6) including Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, Frys, and Kmart, and not one (as in none) had a single Christmas card for Grandfathers OR Uncles.

Not a single Merry Xmas Grandpa card. Not a single Merry Xmas Uncle card. They didnt even have the little category placards for them, so its not like they are just sold out of them.

I finally got fed up and found a manager in Walgreens who states that I was the first person to ask "where the hell are the grandpa Xmas cards". He looked and looked and couldnt find anything either. He told me to wait, and he left. About 10 minutes later, he came back and stated that not a single Grandfather or Uncle card had even been ordered.

I could almost understand just one store in a certain part of town, but the 6 stores I visited were in different parts of town, and the same result was found in all of them.

Anyone have any idea why?

Sidenote: They had wide selections for Grandmothers, Aunts, Grandparents, hell even Godparents, but not a single effing card for the male counterparts.

Supply and demand. If no one buys a card meant for grandpa's one year then they won't order them the next. It's illogical not to sell a product for the purpose of making a statement.

Personally I find greeting cards to be a waste of money, and completely tacky.
People just read the nifty little poem inside, then throw them away.
A heartfelt note with your own words and sentiments, is PRICELESS.

I'm not surprised.
Remember reading a story a while ago where some kids started making cards for step brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers.
