6.5 earthquake off Japan

cnnwire.blogs.cnn.com

TOKYO, Japan (CNN) — A strong earthquake centered about 90 miles off Japan’s east coast, measuring a 6.5 magnitude, was recorded by seismologists at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on Saturday.

There were no immediate reports of damage from the quake, which happened at 7:29 p.m. (5:29 a.m. ET).

The quake was centered at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) underground and 170 kilometers (105 miles) east of Mito, on the main Japanese island of Honshu, the USGS said.

Tokyo is about 255 kilometers (160 miles) west-southwest of the quake’s center, the agency said.

Uh oh, I think somebody was right about the earthquake prediction. Of course it's probably only coincidence but I was still a little surprised to read this when I rolled out of bed.

I hope this isn't going to be the tip of the iceberg. Living on the West coast, I've been a little nervous reading the earthquake threads here.

Everytime I look in the "recent posts" I see some breaking news about a Earthquake.

Why has there been so many lately?

I dunno but it's starting to worry me a little. They have been saying for years that my area is due for 'the big one'. I wish the stupid plates would just get it over with!

It does seem interesting that EQ's seem to be more regular, and interesting that there have been increasing drills and preparations.

I'm going to mention the webbot thing (I don't actually believe in this either, I've seen little evidence of it being accurate, but it's worth discussion even to be devils advocate)
Could they have predicted separate events?

Perhaps the mention of two EQ's and the subsequent chaos are separate entities?
Maybe it was translated incorrectly or presumed to all be related, when in fact the mention of EQ's was a precursor or warning sign of the "big something" to happen after due to another "shock"?

I know that if I was reading a printout stating Earthquakes, disaster, massive event, my natural assumption would be that the EQ's would be immense and cause the rest of the prediction.
Perhaps it should have been read as more of a time line; 2 EQ's, then a massive event.

Just putting it out there.

Ok, what the F%%%, I swear when people were discussing the whole haarp - earthquake link recently, the depth of 6.2miles (10km) repeatedly came up.

Now we have a 6.5 off Japan coast, thats at that depth.

I once heard a conspiracy theory which said that japan was "being held hostage" in a sense by the united states, who was using the threat of earthquakes to keep them in check and have them follow orders. This would make sense, especially if they have the ability, cause no matter what if you can launch a huge earthquake in Japan, you don't even need to turn the tires on 1 jet and the war is over.

Plus, you don't look like a dick for attacking Japan... again...

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. Something tells me you do not want to have anything to do with "the big one."

A 6.5 in Japan .. no big deal.

I lived there for three years. We had big ones .. small ones ... in between ones ... ALL THE TIME. That place was continually rocking and jumping. Sometimes there were even 'small' tsunamis (I say small, but they were big enough to wash people away now and then).

Sometmes a cigar is just a cigar and sometimes an earthquake is just an earthquake.

one reason you would be hearing so many earth quakes reported, is because it is in peoples minds, so now they post EQ's that have occured no matter how small they may be, this can give the impression of heavy quake activilty, but in reality just be the normal.

when people are thinking of something it stays in the recent memories, and we have had a lot of EQ posts from animal behaviour posts, to webbot posts.
If you look for patterns, you will find them.

I remember Benjamin Fulford talking about how the US had threatened Japan with HAARP.
I didn't really buy into it at the time, but within a week or so Japan was hit by a large quake that was very close to one of their nuclear power plants, it freaked me out a little.
It's true that Japan is very earthquake prone, and it could have been a coincidence, but the timing and location sure made it seem like a shot across the bow.
