Hi All,

I just wanted to post this cool video of the snow happening in vegas right now.

Here is the link to the video. Snow In Vegas. It isnt a google or youtube video so I cant embed it here. Listening to the little boy in the background made me smile.
He is so excited.

Now from what I understand, it snows in vegas every couple of years, but this snow set a record for second most accumulation. They got 3.6 inches. Here is a link to a news story about it. Yahoo News
The article states that even Malibu got a bit of snow.

To me this is almost as cool as snow in the desert. I love the irony.

That kinda made me chuckle a bit.
I am from Canada and we get ALOT of snow...we are expecting about 30 cms here in the next 24 hrs.
To even think 3.5 inches is a record really blew me away.We get soooo much snow here its crazy.
Last yr was a bit of a tough one as we got around 440 cms.

Global Warming???
I just think that this may be some of the signs about strange weather patterns for earth's future.
End times prophecy maybe??
Seriously, it's just the upper atmosphere jet stream dipping further south than usual but I do wonder what influences it to do that.

I think that the place is 2000 ft/600m above sea level probably has more to do with it.
Worked in the Gibson Desert, Australia Mining (Exploration) and some times we would get very heavy frosts but by mid morning the temp was back up to the mid 30 Degrees Celsius.

Hi DrumsRfun,

I know that 3.5 inches would really make you chuckle.
I know you guys get a ton of snow. It always makes me worry when you guys start to worry about the amount of snowfall that you are getting.

I dont think I could survive there!
I love snow, but hate being cold. How is that for irony! I remember when you guys had that really bad ice storm. I know that was a crazy couple of days.

I lived in Tx when I was younger, and I remember when it snowed there one year. It was only a light dusting, but I remember being sooooo excited! It had frozen a little bit, and to me it looked like a whole bunch of faeries dropped their fairy dust.

But here is the funny part, they closed schools, and some of the govt offices because of it!

This is one of the Seven signs that indicate the utter demise of Sin City.
I would expect a downpour of Frogs next followed by an inferno of Porno flapper cards on the streets.

Vegas is doomed.

I think last yr was a big one for snow...we had almost 4.5 metres of it.

I can actually see why they closed schools and offices kinda. If you are not used to driving on snow then it could be hazardous. Also bcuz you guys have no snow removel equipment.
I think as much a pain in the arse it is sometimes it really is beautiful.
I can't wait to play pond hockey!!!

This snow season was predicted by the farmer's almanac.

Yeah it snowed here in Houston recently. We didn't get that much though, just a dusting. Sad thing is roads were shut down and people were talking about closing schools the next day.

I just moved here from Michigan so I have to laugh a little along with DrumsRfun.

Hi all,

its fascinating to see how snow perception is different when your not used to it.

Im in the french part of Canada called Quebec and like my neighbor DrumsRfun we got a lot of snow too.

When it snow here, its anything except ' cool, exciting etc...'

In my region, snow is not '' ...looked like a whole bunch of faeries dropped their fairy dust '', we call it '' white shhit ''

in french : merde blanche

I would say that this somewhat counters the global warming argument, however, if I did that there would be some global warming proponent pop up here and say that global warming actually causes stuff like this, up to an including small Ice Ages. So I can't win.

I want 3.5 inches of snow too!!!!! Will even agree on 2. Ok. One - but it is final offer.
Here it is warmer then usual and very few rain days so far. So even if CO2- caused GW is a giant scam, climate change is still probably real.

I currently live in dallas, tx. I've lived in cheyenne, wy for a couple of years so im used to snow/blizzards/whiteouts. When I came back I realized how stupid texans are about the snow. This past week brought us below freezing temps. (i was in heaven) It actually brought us some sleet and about 10 mins worth of the lightest snow I have ever seen. The day after the sleet/snow (streets are now TOTALLY dry) everyone was driving 20 mph on 45-60 mph streets. It pissed me the hell off. I am used to driving 55-60 in 4 inches of snow. These people are so paranoid and scared of snow it's unbelievable. Today it was around 50º they are still driving slow as if there is ice on the road. The roads have been dry for 3 days straight.

Global Warming melts the polar ice caps, which contain fresh water. Fresh water mixes with the salt water of the oceans, throwing off the ocean currents. Ocean currents control weather patterns. The weather patterns can then bring warm weather to cold locations; cold to tropic locations; rain to dry locations; and drought to rainy locations.

Having said that, I don't buy Global Warming. I believe the Earth is going through a phase of climate change like it always has. But whether it's Global "Warming" or a "warming" climate change, "warming" doesn't mean hot and dry for every place on Earth. It means a change in climate and weather from the norm.
