British Launch Biological Attack on Zimbabwe

www.latimes.com

Reporting from Harare, Zimbabwe -- Zimbabwe on Saturday accused the West of waging biological warfare and starting a cholera epidemic that has killed hundreds of people and sickened thousands.

The state-run Herald newspaper quoted the information minister, Sikhanyiso Ndlovu, as blaming the cholera outbreak on "serious biological chemical war . . . a genocidal onslaught on the people of Zimbabwe by the British."

"Cholera is a calculated racist terrorist attack on Zimbabwe by the unrepentant former colonial power which has enlisted support from its American and Western allies so that they invade the country," Ndlovu was quoted as saying.

The Herald said comments by the U.S. ambassador that the United States had been preparing for the cholera outbreak had raised suspicions.

The Zimbabwean government's stranglehold on most sources of news makes such rhetoric an important tool for a regime struggling to hold on to power.

Experts blame the epidemic on Zimbabwe's economic collapse. The World Health Organization said Friday that the death toll was 792 and that the number of cholera cases reported since the outbreak began in August was 16,700.

Aid agencies have said that the outbreak could worsen with the onset of the rainy season and that the disease had spread to Zimbabwe's neighbors.

President Robert Mugabe said Thursday that his government, with the help of international agencies, had contained the epidemic.

I'm not sure how they have the Evidence for this sort of claim?...

Isn't Mugabe the President of Zimbabwe and do you believe his reign may have anything to do with this?

I suggest you change it to match the linked article's title.

This is a bacteria that is present in the area. Wet environments can be resevoirs for the bacteria. Areas where there is not proper santitation, and then are hit by economic unstability forcing more people to use unsanitary water is the most likely cause.

en.wikipedia.org...

Currently every tinpot wackjob with a bit of media attention that needs to direct attention away from themselves, yells and points towards the "rich white hoards." Yes, we all here know that we aren't all white, but I am SURE that when they whip up the anger that the person being visualized isn't brown.

I hate to be the one to point this out but the plan seams so damn obvious now...

The nations believed to be peaceful in intent are surrounding a country, for what exact purpose is unknown, it could be defensive yet past facts seam to indicate not.

As for use of biological warfare it is an outrage and should they be found guilty of this act should be tried for crimes against humanity. This is becoming what we feared a world dictatorship, there will be no nwo, they have made their stance clear, we are resource to them.

I think, in my humble opinion of course, that this is Mugabe's latest attempt to cling to power. Zimbabwe is apparently one of Africa's most resource-laden areas, yet it is falling apart and rapidly becoming another failed state. And as such...the cholera simply lies in wait for the infrastructure to stop working.

I'd say we ought to go in and remove him...for the sake of the population...but the consideration remains: how do we get out again? His peers in Africa won't touch him. Another post-colonial African catastrophe unfolds...

OR!!!!!!!!!!!!

It could be from poor sanitation, unclean water and food.

In general, very poor health conditions.

This is what normally creates the conditions.

It is clear that they are not willing to admit to themselves, much-less the world, that they and their poor conditions is the cause of their misery.

Just another case of people causing their own problems, but tring to blame them on others.

Another case of "Blame the west". I doubt many of the Zimbabwe nationals will believe that.

The whole country has gone to the dogs since we gave them independance. I feel sorry for the average man/woman, it must be bad there right now.

I hate to be the one to point it out, but you are just plain crazy, wrong and coming across as poorly educated..

You do know where Zimbabwe is don't you? You do know the history, don't you? You have heard of Mugabe, haven't you?

And the reason for the cholera is the complete failure of Zimbabwe's public sanitation system. The only reason Mugabe is blaming the British is because to admit that it's his own policies that caused the collapse of the nation would be the end of him. His own soldiers rioted the other week and that was unprecedented. Even the riot police stood by and watched.

It's only a matter of time.

Oh, the islamic republic of Zimbabwe.

Is that the one ruled by Zaki Al-Mugabe?

(Zaki is an Arabic name meaning bright, the same as the Germanic name Robert)

EDIT: The title of this needs to change. It should be:
