I ask this because I have been experiencing out of the ordinary intense and vivid dreams over the past couple of weeks. Usually I'm a very light sleeper and can easily wake up in the morning. Lately, I have been extremely groggy and feel like I've woken from a very deep slumber.

I mentioned this to a few (6) friends and strangely enough they said that the same thing has been happening to them. They are from different parts of the country, and a couple of them not at all into the 'spiritual/dreams meaning anything significant' side of life.

I also had my first 2 lucid dreams ever this month as well as the feelings of possible OBE through Sleep paralysis (loud wooshing in ears and buzzing noise before I become extremely aware of the fact that I am dreaming).

Just curious if anyone else is experiencing anything similar?

Last week I tried a new sleep aid, Roserum ( I think that's how you spell it) and it gave me the most vivid all night long dreams. It was like I was awake and dreaming all at the same time. Not necessarily nightmares, but definately they tapped into things I have deliberately put out of my mind and forced me to deal with them.

I don't think I'll take that mess again.

I often have very vivid dreams. I just had one about an ant and a fly; rather interesting.

But I don't usually wake up groggy from dreams. In fact, most often, when I have vivid dreams, I wake up rather quickly afterwards, not groggy, or I wake up in a pleasant physically-relaxed state that I loll in until I deign to move.

To answer your specific questions, yes I have been having slightly more vivid dreams the past week or so, but it's not that unusually for me to have such variation.

Well here's the thing. With my lucid dreams I wake up extremely alert. But the other dreams that I just participate in and do not control (although they are still extremely vivid) I have difficulty waking up, almost like I'm drugged and just want to keep on sleeping.

So, yeah I know what you mean about waking up alert.

That sounds interesting. Perhaps it was a good thing to face those things? Were you able to resolve anything?

Yes, and its starting to drive me crazy. First there many 'invasion' dreams, either aliens or massive terrestrial forces - China, etc. Lately, it's been dreams where I (and unknown others) jump from one place, one reality to another- but requires going to certain 'ports' such as telephones, AtM's, etc, and dialing the corrrect code (I know this last part sounds like the Matrix). I'm also telekinetic and even able to fly in some of them. I wake up and it had seemed so real, I'm actually a bit disoriented.

Actually yes! Today I had an extremely strange dream, and I'm glad you brought up the subject!

In my dream, a very old friend from my childhood (blond female) was chasing me around with a shotgun trying to shoot me (haven't seen her in many years). I then took the shotgun from her, and shot the ground near her feet for her to back up. Then I woke up
. I don't usually have dreams like this.

How very interesting. In my lucid dreams I was able to fly (clumsily though) but my other dreams are ever so interesting. Nothing spectacular but very involved/random. Usually I'm leading friends or family to safety or just slice of life type dreams that when I wake up I remember all the little details and the feelings as if I was there.

I'm glad other people are responding, I'm beginning to think maybe there's something more to this. Seems to be affecting other people. Maybe a shift in consciousness? Dreams becoming closer to reality? Who knows? But I'm quite interested in hearing more responses from people.

Lol. That sounds interesting and random.
Thanks for sharing. I have many random dreams too that are quite difficult to relate to or explain in real life.

Yep, my flying, especially just starting can be a bit iffy, ie go too low, my legs start dropping. And if you don't think you can, you will drop or not do it at all. The telekinesis is the same in that respect.

Yes. There was another post asking the same thing few days ago if I'm not mistaken. It might have something to do with how close the moon has been the past week; But probably not. Could be all the bad news has our mind working over time, either way, I have been dreaming more recently.

The last dream I remember was simply me walking in the woods trying to get to my canoe but there was a big alligator in the way and I woke up when I tried climbing a tree to escape it. I guess that meant the gator won.

My interpretation was the Gators would stand between Alabama and a shot at the National Championship. They did too, also beat the spread... which I contemplated taking.

Yes. I had one recently where I was in a subway station and an old friend fell off the platform. He turned into a splash of water when he hit the tracks. It turns out he was a hologram being broadcast from a machine hidden by a crowd. The machine had a large number of CPU modules that clipped into and out of an encasing. I have many other vivid dreams such as this, seemingly every night, which feel like an outside force is interacting with me. My daily waking experience leads me to believe this is being caused by a supercomputer.

Hello there.

I would say no. I've always seen vivid dreams. I used to have a lot of sleep paralysis / oobe type experiences, but in the last few years as I have become older they have become a lot less interesting. Now I just wake up before I actually wake up, try to put on the lights, and wonder why I am not able to... You know what I mean, just as if you were walking around in an astral body unable to touch the light switch. Might be just a dream though.

But yes, in my dreams I have always been able to fly and use telekinesis. And there have been frequent dreams about nuclear war, alien invasion and stuff since as far as I remember. And the dreams are often extremely surrealistic. Actually my dream-world is a lot more fun than my waking life.

I always have had difficulty getting sleep in the evening and waking up in the morning. When I was student my sleep rhythms were moving around wildly... Now that I'm a full-time information worker I manage to almost keep my sleeping rhythms steady.

Fascinating - Ive had exactly the same recently as this with the reality -hopping.
I have always dreamed vividly, but recently they have become so long, bizarre and feeling sedated / in that 'dream state' when I wake for a while. No major changes ? diet etc in my life either. But no lucid dreams either.

I saw this one last night and withheld actually posting because I thought it was over, but for the last 2 weeks, I have been having a weird dream state.

So, whats happening is that I am living a storyline. I cant remember all of the details, but I am posting this shortly after waking, so I remember a bit of it.

It is a very realistic dream. I can feel pain. I have been in a sexual situation and felt the desire and pleasure. I can feel sorrow and rage. I feel the happiness. It is truly like a real life. I have not seen anything in the dream that mirrors my life and I do not know anyone in my waking life that has anything in common with the people in my dream life. I am mostly the same person in my dream, but my circumstances are a bit different. It doesnt matter if I have gone out, stayed home, gone to work, or what I do throughout the day that makes any difference in the dream. I still fall into this place and pick right back up where I left off in the last dream.

I have been trying to figure this out for weeks. I have been a bit apprehensive about even posting this. I have not told anyone at all, because I dont know that many open-minded people.

I take any insight that anyone here might have.

Hmm...I understand where you're coming from. Although usually if I dream in storyline it is broken up. Like I will have an extremely vivid dream about something and then a year later I will have another dream about the same place/people (that don't exist in my real life) and it becomes like a landmark in my dream world.

The other night I had an extremely vivid dream about my dad and I in a place where we used to live years ago but the people were all different and the situation/scenario was completely different. We shared an embrace and I felt very comforted and safe and like we were best friends. In that instant (in my dream world) I realized that my dad and I had shared many past lives together. I woke up feeling extremely nostalgic and like that moment had just happened in real life.

I have been having many dreams that upon waking feel very real. Sometimes I think I'm living out parallel universes in my dream states. I've even dreamt about people I don't know at all only to find out they exist through friends (like friend of a friend). I usually enjoy going to sleep at night. Always a new adventure.

You should begin to keep a dream journal. It might help to start recording everything, write down all the details and read over them from time to time there might be a message or something that will make sense to you at a later date.

You mention being able to feel sexual pleasure, there are dreams I have that are so real I will actually awake to having an orgasm. The power of the mind is that strong. If only I could manage that in real life without just my mind then I'd be all set.

Post whatever you like here. I'm very open minded when it comes to this sort of stuff.

This is more along what this feels like to me. It is almost as if I am "living" in my dream state. It reminds of something I heard (maybe a movie, or person) about which reality is actually real? The one you perceive as real or the one you perceive as dream?

I also like the idea of a dream journal. I just have trouble focusing most days on what happened and it fades into obscurity. I will try to remember to put a journal by my bed in hopes that I actually remember and are able to start recording when I dream that reality.

You should watch "Waking Life" it's amazing. Also, if you start keeping a journal it will get easier to remember as you go along. The trick is to write the details that you remember as soon as you wake up. Don't talk to anyone, just jot it down, even if it doesn't make much sense. Imagery, conversation, whatever you can remember. The longer you wait to write it down the quicker it fades.

My dreams continue to fascinate me.

The last 2 days my dreams have been so intense I could not wake up in time for work.

The dreams were extremely vivid and intense, my heart was beating fast every time I woke up, feeling shaky and run down.

Now I have to mention that the dreams were about the Gears of War 2 video game i have been playing on my 360...

BUT....i have been playing games all my life, and never, not once have I ever had such vivid and intense lucid like dreams about a game before.

Could it perhaps not be about "what" u dream, but "how" u dream ?

Could something be intensifying something somehow ?

Even my girlfriend mentioned in bed last night...she said this exactly...

"Do u ever get this scared weird feeling before u fall asleep ? like you remember how scary and intense your dreams were the night before and your worried it happens again tonight ? "
