Marriage plans could unseat Oshkosh Salvation Army leader

www.leadertelegram.com

OSHKOSH (AP) - The leader of the Oshkosh Salvation Army will lose his job if he goes ahead with plans to marry outside the organization.

Capt. Johnny Harsh is engaged to a woman who's not affiliated with the Salvation Army. They're planning to marry in June.

Harsh says he's well aware of the agency's rule which says an officer may only marry another officer of the organization. But, he doesn't think it's fair.

Part of me says this is crap that they would do this. Part of me says oh well he knew the rues when he signed up.

Honestly, I think the rule is archaic, as it is from the 1860's.

I mean, you can only mary certain people? that's like an arranged marriage of sorts. You don't just fall for certain people, it doesn't work like that. Kinda reminds me of a cult.

That is absolutely ridiculous.
What business is it of there's, who he is married to?
Things like that make it look more like a cult than anything else.

That's the sad part, is he is going to lose his house, his car, and his money if he marries this woman. He wants to marry her, but they don't want him to. It's very simmilar to the fact that in most religions you are not supposed to marry outside your faith. and some not even outsie your denomination. Same mentality here.

thanks for posting this!! i heard this on the news this morning and was about to start a thread about it...

why does this sound like some freemasonic rule to me?

i'm pretty sure freemasons can marry whoever they want, but seriously - what gives them to right to dictate who you can marry?

what kind of organization is this, and why is their logo a red shield?!!
