This is why they need dirt on everyone, before you get a position with them.

They have plenty after those jobs and being usa lots of people that will do anything to get that position.

People, politics is corrupt by the very nature of it. Deals get done. People peddle influence. All just shades of gray. Hell, elections are bought by any measure just by "fundraising" alone.

The catch is, it's okay for some but not others, depending on who is playing the bigger game of the Banksters.

When you get in the way of the flow of money - you will get run over. I have seen cases made out of nothing - good and decent people convicted because they got in the way of the money. I have seen very corrupt people walk or avoid charges all together because they grease the money chain. It not right, but it's real.

Obviously this guy's sleazy and cheesey. But, why now?

Guys.

Blago has been a crook since the DAY he entered office. He used family pull to get the election won. Illinois politics is dirty. It has ALWAYS been dirty. It has ALWAYS been "Pay to play". You can't succeed in Illinois politics unless you have/steal/manipulate big big BIG monies.

It may be 10% PTB manipulation, but, it's 90% The guy is a CROOK. He got busted and frankly, I'm glad.
They investigated from the bottom and worked their way up. Raum Emmanuel will be a part of the investigation. Barack is involved, because Illinois politics is dirty, period.
It's the money, legit or dirty, that makes Illinois politics run. Period.

It is NOT a conspiracy involving the banks, IMO, it's the fact that the guy was a crook. Blago wanted money for himself and his family for after he left office. He was selling Baracks seat in the State senate for things he wanted-High paying seats on the boards of NPOs. He wanted positions set up for his wife (Daughter of IL Rep Dick Mel...FAMILY) after the end of his office of Gov.
Jessie Jackson Jr. was, I think, the high bidder. He was the frontrunner for the Senate seat. Will his head be next? Quite possibly. I think what might save him is the fact that Blogo got popped before he could hand that Senate Seat off.

He's a criminal using his office to make money for himself at the disadvantage of the system's checks and balances.

I, for one, applaud the arrest. May many follow.

I'm from Louisiana. We had a notoriously corrupt Governor, Edwin Edwards. He is famously corrupt and notorious for saying the only way he would not win re-election is "if they found him in bed with a live Boy Scout or a dead girl."

Nice right? He didn't get convicted until he failed to produce results while soliciting deals for Insurance companies and Casinos. It's always about the money.

All of these politicians have dirt on them. That's the way the power system controls all of them ....if you cross them they play your card which is in your file.

Do you think that it's just coincidence that soon after the Governor publicly wields his power against one of the nations largest banks who's obviously part of the power system that it is now suddenly revealed that he has been under investigation ?

The fact that they had a 3 year investigation on the guy was his card.
Play by the rules and nothing happens but cross us and your card is played.

Thats also what had transpired with Governor Spitzer of New York.

He was close to blowing the cover off the Bush ties to the mortgage crisis via campaign contributors and/or ambassador appointments as well as the Federal Government overruling state predatory lending practice laws to benefit those mortgage firms.

Well, if it goes that direction, I will be even more convinced it's a conspiracy - those are Bush administration U.S. Attorneys, I'm sure.

The GOP couldn't win the Presidency outright but they'll dirty up the winner or steal it outright? Come on.

As far as getting a position on a Board of Directors for his wife - Somewhere on the web, there is a list of Board members of publicly traded companies. It's so inbred, it's ridiculous - All the same family names on multiple Boards. It's how the powerful peddle influence and pay off their supporters.

But only if you play their game...

Apparently this is not connected to the BoA decision:

A three-year federal corruption investigation of pay-to-play politics in Gov. Rod Blagojevich's administration has expanded to include his impending selection of a new U.S. senator to succeed President-elect Barack Obama, the Tribune has learned.

Federal authorities got approval from a judge before the November general election to secretly record the governor, sources told the Tribune, and among their concerns was whether the selection process might be tainted. That possibility has become a focus in an intensifying investigation that has included recordings of the governor and the cooperation of one of his closest friends.

The governor has not been accused of any wrongdoing. The specific contents of the recent recordings have not been disclosed. Blagojevich has said the appointment of a Senate successor, which is his choice alone, could come in a matter of weeks.

Redhatty thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I know lots of folks here *want* it to be connected, but they are two isolated incidents.

So let me get this right from an Englishman's point of view, A US Governor has been 'watched' for corruption ( for some time apparently) then on the day after he ceases trading ( or companies dealing with) the Bank of America he gets thrown in jail??...

HMM this sounds like the pot calling the kettle black.
So a Governor gets jailtime for being corrupt and the people who run the banks into the ground due to bad management and corrupt trading and create world turmoil due to money troubles , don't get jailtime? BUt they can get a Governor who questions them jailed.
HMMM!!
Me wonders about the world we leave to our children, will it be a life of peace and tranquility or a life of servitude and debt slavery to the corrupt Bank managers and their controllers?

Scuse me but I'll think I'll go commit a selfvasectomy.

That's my point... I want to see how much the MSM will discuss yesterday's news in regards to this Governor who is now in custody and his stance towards Bank of America.

My point was that it will be swept under the rug.

As an Illinoian, this is a great day.

The guy is a corrupt as they come. He's one of the worst governor's we've ever had and I'm glad Fitzgerald is sticking it to him. Can't wait for him to be removed from office.

Yes it is a conspiracy is just that many can not see it, see if you follow the news and what has been going on with the banking system the Fed and the treasury and the bail out you will link one and one.

The same day that the Governor of Illinois made head line news going against the BOA so it was other new that didn't made it to the big corporate media.

BOA didn't look very pretty in the eyes of its customers.

Bank of America Sends Your Tax Dollars to China

www.economyincrisis.org...

Read the story, more corruption from the part of the elite banking system and corporate America against tax payer and hurting consumers while they get billions of tax payer money from the bail out, they are helping themselves not the tax payer.

It seems that the damage team is working hard to deviate the news on BOA from the people and concentrating on one more crock politician that happens to make a direct threat to a big banking system power.

KJ, are you saying that despite Blago being a dirty crook, the Bush administration is making him look like a crook? I honestly think the US Attorneys had no choice at this point. They've been investigation Blago for three years. That's LONG before the GOP lost the White House. The guy (Blago) was attempting to sell a Senate seat, abandoned by the President-elect.
If you steal money from anyone, you are a crook. A criminal. A bad guy. Then, you have to follow the trail down from Blago. Look at all the money changing hands and then those money-movers getting busted. It was a conspiracy...by a sitting Illinois Governor to sell a vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder. The conspiracy involved his Chief of Staff. The list of players has been being exposed for the last year. Investigations of bribery, fraud and crookery (I love that term) from the Gov down.

This isn't the conspiracy you think it is, but, it IS a conspiracy.

Absolutely, I have topics on the dirty chicago political machine, I can't wait to put the finishing touches on them.

Great day for Illinois, soon the nation.

You see the gossip was it was to be Blago for president, not Obama, but Daley knew Blago had gotten his hands to dirty.

If they had anything on Obama, I'm quite sure they would have used it.

But you're probably right, they will put the sqeeze on the Governor to roll on anyone and everyone, if he doesn't volunteer to do it first. They'll even make stuff up about innocent people and get you to testify to it if it serves their purposes.

But Obama is more useful to him as President than in jail with him.

Of course he's a crook. But he's been a crook... only now he is an inconvenient crook. And now, he's got to go be cause he's making people with money and power nervous.

I'm just saying that everyone will use the situation to their best advantage. No scenario is too out of bounds when money and power is involved.

Well now that the news are concentrating on Blagojecivch and the top of the news is Accursed of trying to sell US senate seat vacated by pres-elect obama does anybody have any idea to whom he was trying to sell it?.

Darn I didn't know that the senate seats were for sell, I guess that is where corporate America gets to buy their piece of congress and the legislation.
