Israeli "Auto Kill Zone" Towers Locked and Loaded

The Sentry Tech towers are basically remote weapons stations, stuck on stop of silos. "As suspected hostile targets are detected and within range of Sentry-Tech positions, the weapons are slewing toward the designated target," David Eshel describes over at Ares. "As multiple stations can be operated by a single operator, one or more units can be used to engage the target, following identification and verification by the commander."

This thing is getting much worse than the Berlin wall.
I realy dont understand why this wall in israel with these automated guns does not get the attention that the Iron curtain was getting.

I gues when some countries are setting up walls with guns like this it is ok.

You kidding ,right? Are you aware that there is a conflict going on? With killed on both sides. Wall as a defensive measure is wrong according to you, but if Israel will fire rockets and mortars at Palestinian territory - it will be much better i guess.
I can understand questioning of path of this wall - that sometimes cuts homes, farms from owners. I can understand questioning of effectiveness in preventing terror vs its impact on everyday life of innocent Palestinian population. But come on - comparing it to Berlin wall? Were terrorists coming into East/West Berlin? It was political wall. In Israel - it is safety wall (supposed to be at least. Does not stop rockets.). You can compare Chinese wall to Berlin wall too - i mean if you got agenda everything is comparable.

And this is going to stop the killing, how? The Palestinians will just use more rockets, or other yet-to-be-revealed means to be heard. Israel needs to fix the cause of the problem, not the symptoms. This is just making an asymmetrical conflict even more asymmetrical, which always leads to more civilian deaths. It's retarded.

And yes, it is pretty apt to compare the Berlin wall with the Israeli 'peace' wall. They both divided communities and denied freedom of movement to entire peoples. The disgusting Israeli system of checkpoints just got even more disgusting.

As i said - i completely understand valid criticism of this wall. I think that there should be one, not ugly several meters tall concrete block but a border wall-fence. And it should come up after borders of Israel and Palestine will be agreed upon. It will never (or not in near future) be open border with total freedom of movement. Right now it makes a lot of problems for lot of people, not to mention waste of taxpayers money. But - it did reduce number and magnitude of terror acts inside major cities in Israel. And it is its purpose. Was Berlin wall built to reduce civilian casualties in West/East or simply to stop leakage of Germans to the West?
As for comparison with Berlin wall and why it got me so upset:
Berlin wall was set by Soviets in order to separate people of West and East Berlin (one nation, one city).
Wall between Israel and Palestine (two different nation in conflict with a lot of bad blood between the two) is set up by Israel to reduce civilian casualties in Israeli soft spots.
Where is a similarity? If due to lot of different pressure groups inside and outside of Israel it looks as if it was planned and drawn by an imbecile - it does not mean that its purpose was to divide communities. Israeli Arab will have problem visiting his relatives in Palestine anyway if this conflict will continue and escalate. There is not cold war. It is bloody hot.
So i fail to see Berlin - wall connection. As i said before Chinese wall also had to interfere with free movement of innocent people. Walls do that, hard to find wall that is set to allow better movement. But its purpose was to stop armed enemies from looting China.

I see it as a wall that has been put up to control every one trying to get past it.
I think the berlin wall served a simular purpose, a political one.

The gun turrets arrest my attention specialy.
They say they are controled by humans but i think they a a smal step away from beeing controled by ai.

The first news of this wall beeing build was allready awfull, now it is mounted with these turrets i dislike it even more.

It's area denial technology. the gun turrets are fixed in place, making the system cover a finite area. This, in principle, makes the whole thing the equivalent of a land mine field that asks an operator before blowing somebody up. Maybe you'd prefer land mines, since they don't involve any electronics, and just indiscriminately rip people to shreds without warning, the old fashioned-way?

Even if it was fully under AI control to shoot anyone who got near, it would still just be a contemporary equivalent of a minefield. Putting those up is rude, yes, but not exactly a new idea, nor relegated only to Israel.

Personaly i dont realy care who builds these walls, israeli or russians, i just dont like them.
And i dont like those turrets nor landmines.
I dont like supressive governments eighter if you would like to know.

It is just very sad to see how people are controled and opressed by these types of tactics and technology.
I know there are many more things that are not nice, but thats an other topic.

There is a huge difference between the Berlin wall and the Israeli wall that no one here seemed to notice.

The Berlin wall was setup by people trying to get out. The Israeli wall - for the most part - is designed to stop people from getting in.
