I agree with the OP about Organized Religion, I think they are Scam Artists, as another thread talks about, I would only offer this advice to the OP.

Read the Bible, KJV is best to the original intent and language but whatever one you can read best. Find out who the Bible says God is then decide for yourself if it is fact or fiction in your own opinion. If you listen to the well memorized rants of most Organized Religions you get no Bible and lots of passing plates...
