Back in September we wrote about the Palm Pistol, a single-shot gun intended for those with limited manual dexterity.

Not exactly news. Most of us who are not raving anti-gun lunatics have known our whole lives that firearms, especially handguns, are priceless to the weak, elderly and handicapped for protecting their lives when threatened by anyone from Chuck Norris to Mike Tyson.

Now comes word that, after some FDA pondering, the Palm Pistol has been designated a Class I Medical Device.

Now that's news. I wonder if this opens up the field for just about any firearm? The Palm Pistol is fine for out on the street but what about in the home where there may very well be multiple intruders? Will MediCare cover my grandmas Benelli M90?

Seems like the precident is there now.

That's interesting - can other vulnerable get the same deal on other personal defence items at the moment, like pepper spray and tazers??

That's a highly concealable little hand gun.

Bloody well should be!

If they insist upon socialized healthcare, then in the interests of efficiency wouldn't it be better to issue a $400 handgun rather than spend $2000 to treat a stab wound?

That's a good question.

For consistency's sake they ought to be and you'd think with all the anti-gun nuts around they'd prefer you have a less-lethal method of defense. However, when I was in CT I could load my shotgun with any number shot, slugs or even those ridiculous designer shells like the ball and chain or the phosphorus shells but I had to be a licensed law enforcement officer to purchase pepper spray shells or stinger ammo.

It would seem the anti-gunners prefer I eviscerate a home intruder rather than incapacitate one.
