Coalition would turn lawful gun lovers into criminals

www.lethbridgeherald.com

OTTAWA - The Conservatives are hoping to enlist gun enthusiasts in the fight against the coalition that is threatening their government.

"Law-abiding owners of handguns and semi-autos will become criminals overnight if the opposition parties have their way," Tory MP Garry Breitkreuz wrote in a letter posted on his website.

"It is essential to mobilize everyone you know."

And so it continues....
It's not just us in the US.
What next!?!

I encourage everyone who lives in a place where they can purchase guns to do so ASAP....before it's too late and everyone is left wishing they had in hindsight.

Since Canada borders Alaska this is paticularly close to home. I am glad that this state of "The last frontier" is not entertaining these ideas as of yet....I fear the day that they start.
It would mean most of this state would revolt IMHO.

Whats next? Depending on who you ask, complete disarmament world wide. Only firearms created for the "ruling class" or U.N. Anyone with a firearm is a menace to the peaceful world order. At least that what it seems like to me. Not a big surprize Canada is jumping in on this hysteria, would like to see some folks from Canada weigh in on this, as I dont know the politics up there very well.

As for this:

Just Today PM Harper spoke with the Governor General to suspend the house of commons until late January. In all honesty the "coalition" has from the get-go been facing a lot of angry voters. No one voted for such a coalition and the fact the the Bloc Quebecois (essentially a national party that aims to defend the rights and benefits of one province, Quebec) has joined the coalition has not been seen in a positive light.

A lot of voters feel betrayed that a party they had exclusively voted for would now join together with three other parties with (somewhat) different ideologies just to topple the current government. A lot of folks also see this as a last ditch effort spearheaded by Stephan Dion (Leader of the Liberal Party and the opposition) to try and get in power.

Given the weak "common goal" that united these 3 parties to begin with, I really don't see the feasibility of this coalition seriously taking a stab at a coup.

The people never gave its consent on the formation of this coalition so most people are not happy with this situation.

well for an example, over 60% of americans oppose the bailout of the auto industries in america, just as well over 60% opposed the original bailouts. but guess what happened? the bailout went through, regardless of the people's will. my guess is this auto industry bailout will also go through

the government no longer serves the will of the people. that much is obvious. so the next logical step is to reassert our power, which will mean taking a stand. this can in some cases involve armed revolution.

clearly they intend to take away our means to defend ourselves and our constitution, whether or not the majority back the decision.

My money says that yes the ban will go through in canada, as well as america.

keep practicing, buy a gun if you dont have one, or more if you have some, and plenty of ammo, as the prices will only rise until the bans.

good luck to all and dont allow these governments to continue doing what they deem "is in our best interest" while we the people, who hold the true power (or are supposed to) are not listened to and in fact laughed at.

power to the people

If the coalition does become a replacement, i dont think the very few people with firearms would instantly become criminals. Most people, I would say, in Canada, who live in small towns use firearms for hunting specifically.
