Having less money then some does effect the ratio.
Blacks have had to work their way up from nothing since slavery.
It's never one thing but a combination of many things . This combination of things also happens to be present in the inner city, where a healthy percentage of blacks reside.
There are uneducated blacks in these cities who do what they want. They don't care about society. So the other blacks in the neighborhood have to live with these people near them that do what they want when they want without thinking of the consequences.
Also when you have more to lose, you tend to not risk it. Is there a stat on blacks and income level and the difference between that and who goes to jail?

The whole goal of hiphop culture kinda is to make a better living for yourself and get outta the hood and provide a better life for your family. Yet when one does so they get ridiculed by the ignorant black population who thinks they are selling out and such.
The youth living near them is brought up to see this as cool so kinda i dunno it's confusing but it just seems like it's fear and ignorance among a small % of blacks that is corrupting the progression of blacks in our country.

You see far less blacks who live in suburbs go to jail because they have a better opportunity to succeed.
That does not mean they will though and there are always bad apples anywhere you live in any nationality and color and race.

My issue with this is that there are blacks who have been brought up in a great neighborhood with people who are nice and care about eachother and aren't going to ahrm you because they will lose their home and everything they have worked for, and yet they choose to sink down to the level of the small % of iggnorants who seem to be running the pop-culture.

There are more variables than that. That is just the tip of the iceberg.
This being said. I am a white 23 year old male from a nice suburb. But even around here where I live there are people who want to live the rebelious dangerous life style and they pay for it no matter where they live.
I'm not racist at all. I was brought up by my parents to be open minded and accepting of all people of all cultures and races. I thank them everyday for that because I see all the racism around me and how many white people still use the " N " word a LOT !

In the end it is all on the individual person's choices he/she makes. Some kids just have it tougher growing up and when 80% of the people in your area are not setting a good example then a higher percentage of people in that area end up comitting crimes and going to jail.
Color does not matter it's everything else around them that does.

It is obvious why they are the way they are. It is just most Americans are to stupid and ignorant to realize the generational consequences that arise from treating a race of human beings, for hundreds of years, as filth, trash, servants, somehow less human.

The interior of our cities are still in the great depression, but they also have a constant flow of life killing drugs. Top that off with not qualifying for government assistance once you have a felony, and you have yourself a severe hardship for anyone who attempts to survive in urban communities regardless of color.

Not many people realize that originally gangs were created to protect themselves from police. Specifically in LA, were LA intentionally recruited a racist police chief, and officers from Alabama.

The icing on the cake is that our prison, and parole system isn't designed to keep people from going back to prison. It is designed to make money. Capitalism should not be a part of the correction process. Our correction system is not about correcting people, it is more of a pantry. We just store people away, pretending that we are making society safer. I believe 90% plus of people who go to state, or federal prison come out a gang member (including my brother, who never had any gang affiliation until going to state). You cannot life comfortably in prison without having a gang affiliation. You basically join a fraternity of criminals, and the connections you make send you down a path as a career criminal.

I am white, but this subject is not hard to understand.

The two biggest problems of America's 'poor' are obesity and insufficent parking.
Do you think they would get much sympathy from the poor of Africa who watch hundreds of their children starve to death each night?
To see a group of American blacks, which will always include half a dozen extremely overweight females and an equal number of young males with pounds of gold bling hanging around their necks, complaining about being deprived, for some strange reason has always failed to produce any feelings of pity or compassion in me. I think the most telling thing here is the drug numbers.
Our justice system unfairly prosecutes crack coc aine with a tougher penalty than powder coc aine. A person with 500 grams of powder coc aine gets a 5 year sentence, a person with 5 g of crack coc aine gets a 5 year sentence. Since 80% of black drug arrests are for crack and crack has a lower threshold for conviction and sentencing this one reason you see the disparity of white vs black in the prison population.

Here is an interesting study on this.

Not to mention, blacks are more likely to be stopped and searched for drugs. Interestingly, whites are no less likely to have drugs than blacks.

In Dallas, many murder and rape convictions were overturned there because DNA evidence showed that the ones convicted of the crime did not do the deed. Every one of them was black. One guy spent 20 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.

So in my opinion, law enforcement unfairly targets blacks and the judicial system is more likely to wrongly convict blacks and then give them harsher penalties than whites.

No wonder why they angry.

The post is awkward but the people posting are even more awkward and disturbing. I think the post above may have said it best. Gangs were created to protect neighborhoods from racist law enforcement, and skins. Crip stood for two things, one of the two being, COMMUNITY REFORM IN PROGRESS. Im sorry I forgot the other....But the name originaly came from a youth center which kept the teens and kids out of the streets. It was a center for culture, were some of the most skilled chess players and musicians spent most of their time. Why don't we stop arguing about which race is better or worse or whatever and strive to end racism the only way possible. 1.) Take Hitler's idea and kill every one else so there's only one race. 2.) Take a more peaceful side to Hitler's idea and just breed every other race out. or 3.) just eliminate race as an issue altogether. If you want to end racism, stop bringing it up. The way I see it, there are some "people" in high positions, somewhere, that don't want the human race to do very well. They don't want us to grow, they don't want us to prosper. They want the human race separated into segregated groups. They don't want us to be "aware."

If this weren't true, then how do you explain toxic chemicals like Chlorine and Chloramine added to our water supply to "protect us." How do you explain the toxic media, hell bent on telling us "bad" news 24/7. How about dangerous drugs pushed to the masses like candy on our television screens. And this is to "help" us, and it's all legal. You go to a shrink, tell him you saw a UFO, and he tells you that you didn't see it, and you imagined it. Look at the toxins sprayed on our food, and apparently this is ok with the FDA. And, why is it taking so freaking long to get an electric vehicle on the road? You would think the government would think this was a good idea and actually fund this, instead of buying bombs to kill other people.

Snap out of it. This is your life to take. If your a black, white, red, or some color of a person and you want to succeed and do something with your life, I think you can do it. You don't have to sell dope, you don't have to be a victim, you don't have to live in a dump making $1.50 an hour, and you don't have to starve. No one, of any color, has to live a crappy life. I don't know why people attack some one for asking a question that wasn't racist. Just answer the question and be done with it, there is no need to attack the person and ask for them to be banned. This is all true as well , since it didn't really deal with the op's gripe I didn't cite it. From working in law enforcement , I can tell you first hand there is a large discrepancy between arrests and prosecutions between blacks and whites. It goes both ways though and that delves into racial profiling , It's not what you would think when that phrase appears. If you were white and driving in the projects you'd best believe you were getting pulled over. Why?... common sense! If you don't live in the projects (which no whites were in this part of town) then you were only there to cop heroin or base..... so you all know I'm officially done with the blacks / whites thing because just using 2 colors to describe humans is akward for me and JDFL or (just don't feel right) hopefully some of you made it through this debacle unscathed and see the truth for what it really is.

my friend... I don't think you understand population ratios vs crime statistics.

if african american population is 13% of the entire US population, and they still are capable of taking up 50% of gun crimes, etc etc..

do you see the difference?

so a black violent criminal is literally over 6 times more likely to shoot someone than a white violent criminal. that's 600% more likely.

so EVEN THOUGH white people make up 81% of ALL poisonings...

Damn good point. One thing I'd like to add to the whole music issue is that the poor black ghetto kids in the ghetto that are thugs, (and no, not ALL of them are) listen to gangster rap to RELATE to it, because they understand and are living that lifestyle.

White people are just listening to it for entertainment value. And unfortunately, some of them get influenced by it, and perpetrate the mannerisms of black thugs from the ghetto. Thus transforming them into wiggers.
