Last time it was taken to BBQ more than half of the debaters who signed up to debate either didnt show up or gave up halfway. That shows that only those who specifically seek out the Debate Forum will follow through with it. My vote: No, for now (at the next Tournament perhaps).

I have to agree. In the short time I've been here I've seen several instances of people not showing up, disappearing or not finishing a debate. Especially since the skirmishes are supposed to be more about having fun, let's not take any extra risks with people being disappointed because their opponent doesn't show up or doesn't finish.

JMHO.

(and PS Vagabond I wasn't referring to you even obliquely; conceding is not the same as not finishing.)

The goal of course will be to end up with an even number of debaters...which we will have one or another without excluding anyone who wants to participate...

CA_Orot and myself have decided to postpone our upcoming debate to january and be - paired to each other - part of this fun too.

Really looking forward to lighthearted and funny debate

So are we still planning on starting Friday? Or do we want to give it a little more time and wait until next week?

Start Time is this Friday...though, nyk, don't you usually have weekend issues?

If that is the case, then I can start your debate a day or two later...

At any rate, I kind of want to make sure that we can wrap them up as much before X-Mas as possible since the Holiday is what all of us are competing against...

Generally I do, yes. One of the budget cutbacks I've had to make is my home internet access, so I generally only access ATS at work.

I always hate to ask for special treatment though, because I don't deserve it more than anyone else. If there are no objections though, pushing it back until Sunday evening or Monday morning would be fine. If that can't happen, I'll find a way to make it work.

I have no problems with staggering some of the debates to accomodate schedules...but only because it is the Holiday Season...

If anyone else has a scheduling conflict, other than those who have already stated as such, please u2u me and let me know...

It has really trailed off. I saw Ian post in the FCP was that he was antsy to start. Heike and I are taking our sweet time over the holidays, so I think we are good to go whenever you want to assign postions. I will u2u her and tell her to do the same to you if she is ready too.
