Here is the same state official again talking about the press release:

Honolulu Advertiser: Obama's certificate of birth OK, state says

This has gotten ridiculous," state health director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said yesterday. "There are plenty of other, important things to focus on, like the economy, taxes, energy."

So, in what likely will be a vain attempt to halt the inquiries, Fukino yesterday issued a statement saying that she and the registrar of vital statistics personally inspected Obama's birth certificate and found it to be valid.

Will this be enough to quiet the doubters?

"I hope so," Fukino said. "We need to get some work done."

So, obviously Fukino is saying that Obama was born there, that the questions are unfounded and crazy, and that more important issues should be discussed.

Saying Obama was not born in Hawaii now implicates the Obama, his family, the AP, the Department of Health of Hawaii, and many others.

Quite a large conspiracy we are drawing up here.

As a result, Fukino said she does not believe Health Department officials could release Obama's birth certificate to the public even with his permission, although she would need to get a legal ruling to be certain.

It has nothing to do with being bias..it is just the newspaper summarizing the story in their own words. Those words cannot be attributed to anybody.

These are the only words in the article attributed to her.

Health Department Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino says she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama’s original birth certificate.

Fukino says that no state official, including Gov. Linda Lingle, ever instructed that Obama’s certificate be handled differently from any other.

She says state law bars release of a certified birth certificate to anyone who does not have a tangible interest in it.

www.starbulletin.com...

on the new source you provide, it refers to the statements she made the previous day, which is the first source you provided. No where in that first source do they attribute anything to her saying Obama BC is valid. Another example of how the media sums up stories in their own words.

Once again, my issue isn't with Obama. What bothers me is that there isn't one agency responsible for verifying that ALL PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES are eligible to run as as to the requirements of the Constitution. The fact that candidates don't have to release their records could lead to somebody getting elected who isn't eligible. We cannot sit around and wait for a state agency to investigate and release information that could possibly violate the State's own privacy laws.

BTW, do you know who authorized the official state investigation you talked about in a previous post.

lol Supporters of Obama are in for a bloody rude awakening. He is no different then any other President. He is equally in the pocket of big business, so don't cry when he doesn't part the sea. lol I don't know whats worse, Bush getting a second term, or Obama being equated to a saviour!! lol I can't wait see all the dejected faces that will become so disillusioned over the next 4 years, as they realized he is as much a scum bag as the rest of them. Good on you USA!!!

What? So you are just going to dismiss the official's comment that the allegations are ridiculous? That doesn't make any difference?

I don't have a transcript of the whole conversation, but you can get the idea by reading the AP article and some of the quotes.

In reference to your second question, I could have sworn I used to have a link about Hawaii starting an internal investigation amid all of the controversy. I cannot find it for the life of me anymore.

After reading through the link, I finally nailed it down.

The right wing media owners have let the libs run rampant on their airtime to expose utter socialist entitlement lunacy!

Only explanation i could think of.

Having a hard time reconciling the numbers though.

"GENERAL ELECTRIC --(donated 1.1 million to GW Bush for his 2000 election campaign)"

"DISNEY / ABC / CAP (donated 640 thousand to GW's 2000 campaign)"

"TIME-WARNER TBS - AOL (donated 1.6 million to GW's 2000 campaign)"

Just a thought (IMO everything else has been covered on this thread already):

Obama is the first president-elect to come from a family that was not intact. The only other example I can think of is President Ford, who had a stepfather who adopted him. I believe his real father died. Obama's family life was not all white picket fence and apple pie, the way many people like to think of America.

IMO some folks just like to gossip. Some gossips like to snoop into other peoples' personal business.

As an academic, I'm moderately interested in his Master's thesis (and I believe it was Columbia University, not Columbia College--they're two different institutions) because I like the way he thinks, but not enough to demand he produce it if he doesn't want to or doesn't think it's relevant. Incidentally, University Microfilms has copies of almost every thesis and dissertation written in most institutions of higher learning. You can buy copies of most of them. You'd probably need to know the year it was published, but a thesis is a published work and is therefore accessible to anyone who wants to hunt for it. The other place to look would be--duh--the Columbia library, in the thesis and dissertation section.
