Here is the current list of Frigates, Destroyers and Submarines in the PLAN.

Destroyers

2 - Type 052C Lanzhou class

2 X 9M317 Shtil (SA-N-12 Grizzly) launcher, command/semi-active radar and IR homing to 38km at Mach 3; warhead 70kg; 48 missiles; multiple channels of fire

2 - Type 051C Luzhou class

1 - Type 051B Luhai class

4 X 4-cell launcher active radar-homing to 150km at Mach 0.9 (Mach 1.6~2.0 in final approach), warhead 165kg, sea-skimming

HQ-7 1 X 8-cell launcher 8 missiles + 8 spare Air defence missile, line-of-sight guidance to 13km at mach 2.4; warhead 14kg

Type 76A 4 X dual-barrel Anti-aircraft artillery, 180 rounds/min to 8.5km; weight of shell 1.42kg




2 - Project 956 Sovremenny class

2 - Project 956EM Sovremenny class

Air-Defence Missiles

4 X 9M311K (3M87) Kashtan (SA-N-11 Grisson); command ling-of-sight guidance to 8km; altitude 5~4,000m; 32 missiles; multiple channels of fire

4 X GSh-30k six-barrel 30mm on two Kashtan systems, 4,600~5,800 rds/min to 4km

Helicopter Flight Deck and Hanger 1 X Kamov Ka-28 Helix

Those ships all appear to be solid designs and well thought out. The only thing is, those ships would be considered screens in the American Navy.

Until they deploy ships capable of true power projection (aircraft carriers) the Chinese Navy will be a regional threat at best. That said, the Chinese are believed to be training crews on the carrier Varyag which was purchased from the Ukrainians.

4 - Type 054A (2 under construction)

32-cel 4 X 8-cell VLS, with 48 9M317 missiles, semi-active radar-homing to 38km. Its unconfirmed whether they are 9M317 missiles but its been widely reported to be them.

12 - Type 053H Jianghu I class
5 - Type 053H1 Jianghu II class
1 - Type 053HT-H Jianghu IV class
6 - Type 053H1G Jianghu V class

Patrol boats

40+ - 022 HOUBEI Class Fast Attack Craft

These are interesting little vessels who use their catamaran hull design and stealth features to launch their anti ship missiles

Conventional submarines

16 - Type 039A/G Song-class
There is roughly 16 of these in service, they are also quite modern and have been equipment with mdoern C4I. Its capable of firing the C-80X series underwater which makes them more potent.

12 - Kilo-class

These are the spearhead of chinas submarine force. Very potent and quiet with its Klub-S missile system. Might be fitted with AIP in the future, adding alot more capability for only a little bit more money. There are 2 Kilo 877EKM which are the downgraded export variants, 2 further improved 636 variants which are quietened Kilo submarines while china had just finishing recieving 8 more further imporved 636M submarines

3 - Yuan-class
There is apparantly three of these. One of them is fitted with AIP and denoted with A for a improved variant. These submarines might become the fore front of chinas submarine force in the coming years, compementing the Kilo force

There are 18 of these submarines in service. Not very modern, but have been upgrade in recent years

Beggers can't be choosers. If you can only afford to buy cheap products its your prerogative, you get what you pay for. China makes cheap products for the finacially challenged like yourself and they also make the majority of the worlds high tech equipment

Such a tiny, small navy for such a large country. But, than again, I am sure its being built for the specific reason to invade Taiwan. China is maybe entering the top ten, but they have a long way to go to catch up with the US, UK, France and even Russia. Not to mention their training, experience and equipment is below average. But thanks for the update!

1 - Type 920 Hospital Ship

The Type 920 hospital ship could provide a total of about 600 beds as well as other medical treatment facilities. The ship has a single-spot flight deck and a hanger at stern to support 1~2 medium size helicopters such as Z-8 or Ka-28. This enables casualties to be directly airlifted from war zone to the ship.

Yeah my original opinion still holds true these boats are the equivalent of the American tourist cruise boats with a few machine guns strapped to the top. Actually I'm going to go ahead right now and say that the cruise boats are bigger, better, and more technological.

The submarine in the photos is also extremely small, possibly old American technology from the 80's.

If they tried to make it to the US it is my bet that 3 out of 4 would break down before completing the trip.
