What i find funny is that I posted this thread because I thought it funny and the number of people have taken it seriously.

Lighten up.

Ms. Coulter has put herself in the spotlight spewing hate so don't be surprised at a strong reaction to her...

... indeed I suspect most people hold the type of rhetoric she spouts in contempt.

Although I don't wish harm or pain on anyone. This has to be the ultimate punishment for this blow hard. lol.

I don't think anyone here is really wishing her harm or injury. Take it
with a grain of salt. Speaking of salt, if anyone here had a wound and Ann
found out about it, she'd be the first one to rub salt into the wound, lots of
salt, . . . so it would really sting. That old saying that what goes around,
comes around, is true. With her mouth shut for awhile, we don't have to
hide the salt shakers.

Just as I hold the type of rhetoric you're spewing in contempt.

This thread is disgusting.

I am seriously disappointed in some members posting here. You don't like Coulter, fine. Don't respect her, fine. Have some respect for ATS though. We're supposed to be better than this. Remember, we have visitors to this site. Is this what you want to portray yourself as?

What exactly do you think we are portraying ourselves as?

I see no harm in expressing amusement in an event which is surely the very definition of poetic justice.

Lets remind ourselves of a few opinions this nut case has espoused:

"...we should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."

"Congress could pass a law tomorrow requiring that all aliens from Arabic countries leave....We should require passports to fly domestically. Passports can be forged, but they can also be checked with the home country in case of any suspicious-looking swarthy males."

The "backbone of the Democratic Party" is a "typical fat, implacable welfare recipient"

"If you don't hate Clinton and the people who labored to keep him in office, you don't love your country."

"The presumption of innocence only means you don't go right to jail."

And perhaps my favourite of all:

To a disabled Vietnam vet: "People like you caused us to lose that war."

Plenty more here

Now, if I was ever forced to choose a person for a little jaw wiring, well, right now I'm hard pressed to find a better candidate.

Proof, as if it were needed, that life has a sense of humour.

(My BBCode is a little rusty.)

I certainly don't wish anyone ill... but I despise the type of hatemongering that she and others like her indulge in...

... I have said it many times on ATS and I stand by it, while they have the freedom to speak their mind such venomous rhetoric, the demonizing your fellow citizens because they disagree with you and to pass it off as political commentary worthy of being taken seriously... is a poison in the body politic of our nation.

I hold ann coulter in contempt because of it as do I any others who practice this craft.

I endorse this quote. Of course I'm a nobody, but hey, I tried!

Besides, nobody is really wishing her death or anything like that, mearly savouring the irony of the situation, in a time when everything has been going against the average joe, the situation is a tiny bit of relief, so I say let it sail.

She, for all the crap she has spewed over the years, deserved the karma.

All those examples are well and good, but here is the point.

She isn't a member of ATS....you are.

She doesn't hold herself to the standards we do here, you should

That was Intrepid's point.

I don't want a one liner response so I will say this.

Why didn't we think of this earlier to shut this crazy woman up?

- Sure she loves the spotlight. Even though I count myself among the conservatives you wish to have neutered I can clearly see that she loves the attention. She's the conservative alter-ego to Michale Moore and loves being the lightning rod. If you're gonna put yourself out there like that you have got to expect the incoming lightning that you'll draw.

There's enough irony around here for me to appreciate it. Of course let's not get vulgar or obscene about it, but she deserves a slap in the face at times. She's a glutton for punishment.

I think we get your "point". I'm having a tough time trying to figure out
how we can be ourselves and be truly frank and candid without someone
throwing the "standards" at us. By saying what we really think and citing
examples, ( proof ), I think we are living up to what ATS would want us
to be . .honest individuals expressing a classic case of irony. It is a
laughable situation, that's all. Lighten up. I dislike Ann. But I also dislike
some liberal talking heads.

Thank you for putting it a little better than I did.

Annie is a public figure, the "girl" has broad shoulders, she wouldn't have put herself out there if she couldn't take it.

I see nothing in sharing honest personal opinion that contravenes the high standards of ATS.

I don't take me too seriously...

I have to disagree about Michael Moore though... while he certainly does love the spotlight and controversy... to compare the two is off base... I have never heard him spew the hateful rhetoric that is her bread and butter.

I love a woman who can bring out so much "venom" in liberals. All the jokes and just plain being mean because of her views and the fact that she exposes your liberal hypocracies and is GOOD at it! You people rock!

You like to attack personal appearance or name-call when you can't argue against her intelligently?

That's funny right there I tell ya!

Wow, and to think I stated in another thread that someone had posted the most ridiculous thing I'd read here all day... we have a new winner.

How many times have you actually watched Moore interviewed or seen him on a program? Just because he's directing his venom and vitriol against targets you, grover, also dislike doesn't make it any less hateful.

That said, I also disagree with the comparisons between Moore & Coulter. Ann Coulter purely gives her opinions and packages them as such... Moore invents things and passes off lies as "investigative, documentary truths" and then builds whole arguments to attack individuals, ideals, and institutions using his lies as a weapon. Considering the vast number of people who believe Moore's crap vs the vast number of people who simply listen to Coulter, I think Moore is a much more dangerous, smarmy individual. (Who, by the way, would certainly benefit from having his own jaw wired shut for awhile... or at least the seams of his trousers would benefit from it.)

Thanks alot, CreeWolf. I had just finished my lunch and then, POW! Helen Thomas staring back at me like an elephant seal eyeballing a baby penguin. I need to go get some fresh air now...

(Point taken and starred, by the way. The contrast between the conservative woman and the public liberal pant suit wearer has always been an issue that has fascinated me.)

**You're off base. Her personal appearance hasn't been attacked.
**But I notice you're doing a good job of it.

That's funny right there I tell ya!

**The "venom" also comes forth from the ultra-conservatives I see.
**And who says we can't argue intelligently against Annie ? Only now, with
her mouth wired shut, would we be able to get a word in edgewise.

Thanks for the laugh!! This thread needed some levity and a good joke. I forgot all about Helen Thomas. What a reminder. She actually reminds me of an old skunk trapper I used to know.

While this is great news... there's absolutely no shortage of rich white people (the majority, at least) going around telling everyone that they don't have the right to live life how they see fit. That they MUST conform or they're going to hell. People like her strip away our freedom and are treating the American people as mindless puppets. Like we're all supposed to be obedient close minded fools, ready to hate on command.

edit: Holy crap... that picture is scary as HELL! What's funny to think about though is... think of them as before and after shots. It feel somehow right comparing the republicans to their democratic counterparts. (are republicans trying to fool people with a MILF campaign? if so... they failed)
