Now first off, I used to be, and still am in many ways..a PC Gamer.

But i moved to Melbourne and had to leave my PC behind, and now that i'm here i just can't afford to get a $2500 pc to run awesome games...you know ?

i know i can get a cheaper pc, but i don't like setting my graphics lower and all that stuff to run games properly...

So i decided to get the Xbox 360 pro, and i love it, got Fallout 3, Gears of War 2 and Assassins Creed, and am playing it on a HD 42inch LCD tv which is freakin awesome!!

But what do u prefer ? Xbox 360 ? PS3 ?

what's the main difference between xbox and ps3 ?

I like the 360 because i like halo, forza and gears and a couple of other exclusives.Ive been into halo since the first one. However if those games dont float your boat, id possibly lean towards the ps3, purely for reliability issues.I have already had the dreaded RROD once and now since buying fable2 my xbox crashes ALL the time.

On a side note don't ever buy fable2 it is now virtually unplayable on my machine now and thousands of others are having serious problems with it.I fully blame fable2 for wrecking my machine i dont care if people say its impossible coz it did and im not the only one.Its also just a sucky game play the original one and save some coin for a decent game.

p.s peter molyneux(sp?) can suck my figs and give me $100 bux back.

i recently modded my xbox 360 so that I can play backups, and I have to say it's made me very, very happy. On top of that, plugging a usb stick in with some divx movies and just hitting play is awesome.

I havent had much experience with the ps3, but I believe you would need a blu-ray burner to make backups, and its still more expensive. They have a few good games though - but neither system has very many great games out right now (less than 20 for each).

I'm a Playstation fan all the way.

I've tried both the original Xbox and the 360, and honesty wasn't impressed enough to switch.

I'm a hardcore Final Fantasy fan, so the PS has always been my true home. The ability to watch Bluray in wonderful 1080p also helps the PS3's cause in my book.

PS3 all the way baby.

Xbox without a doubt....online community in much better...so, you get a blue ray drive in PS3...you can stream/download movies through xbox live.....blue ray discs still aint cheap and how often will you watch it....more variety of games on 360 and the dashboard update looks and feels good....yes, its a rip of the WI/PS3 but we have the best of 3 worlds....

There are good aspects to both systems. I honestly don't see why some people are intent on arguing or proving that their system is better than the other. Can't they both be great?

I like my PS3 for the same reason 360 fans like theirs, the games. All these types of things do is bring the hardcore fan boys out of the woodwork.

I've seen people get angry to the point of fighting over which system is better.

Crazy.

Ok, so it comes down to personal choice really ?

I was wondering if there was any solid evidence that the one is better than the other...guess not...

I have a question though...how do i back up my original cd's ?

i know there's some process but im not really sure,,,and then whats the point of backing your games up to cd and then u can't play the backup without modding or flashing your 360 ?

Cause i rly want to back it up and keep them safe incase somethin happens to the original..

yep. I would look a the games you want the most, then get the system that has the most / best versions of those games. Both systems are pretty much on par with each other, although xbox 360 is much easier to program, therefore there will probably be more games overall for the 360, by the time both systems run their lifespan. Thats speculation, but not something I came up with all by myself or anything.

actually, it would be DVD-DL (Dual Layer DVD) or Blu-Ray. Blu Ray you are out of luck, because the burners are still like 300-500 each, plus the blu ray discs are expensive, and take forever to burn.

DVD-DL are about $1.50 each, and you can get a DL burner for around 40-60, and they take about 45 minutes to burn.

There is no point to make backups, unless you have modded/flashed your system.

Ok, I have a Dual Layer DVD writer on my laptop, but are u saying i'm going to need 2 dvd writers ? to copy the original to the dvd disc...

Or do i rip the original to my laptop hdd and then burn an iso image to the dvd disc ?

forums.xbox-scene.com...

check that for a review of some software that does it for you (relatively new)

honestly, its much easier to just download the backups than create them yourself...

You can back up your games to the 360 hdd with the new update now.Although some of the older games arent recommended to because they were designed to run off the disc.

PS3 for me fellas, I love the controller better, The X box controller feels like a big tonka toy. Now the graphics are about the same and each has wonderful games, But I have to say the Blu-Ray is wonderful on my 60" Sony Grand Vega............And the games in 1080P will blow your mind.Plus we don't have to pay for online play.

PS3 and the Original Xbox! The 360 is a death trap. Play for 10 minutes, overheats, red ring of death, bursts in to flames, burns your house down killing every one inside. PS3? Nope. Original Xbox? Nope. I can play Fable or Fuzion Frenzy or Halo for hours and no problems. I can play Mirror's Edge for hours and no problems. No 360 bursting in to flames in a NYC apartment building burning it down, spreading across the city, turning the great city of New York in to a pile of ashes as millions burn too death. Not going too happen with the Original Xbox or the PS3.

Haha exaggerate much.My 360 only burnt down half my house, so i shipped that half off to micro$oft and they sent me back a half of a refurbished house.I thought that was a good deal.

As said before I have a PS1 ,2 and PS3 and no I'm not a fanboy, I just bought a system and had no faults whatsoever, never bought or played a Xbox but I have mates who love em.

Both systems do what they should most of the time and most of us are happy, enjoy you system and play awesome games, atm I'm playing Fallout 3 on the PS3 via my Bravia (Sony...........I know I know) and it is awesome

I currently have both, but minus a third party game that clearly plays better (Fallout 3) or exclusive, my Xbox 360 hasn't seen much love. The recent updates Sony has made to the online has made it to the point they're on par with Live, or atleast made it so that Live isn't $50 a year better than Sony's service. I thought about doing a software mod to my 360 to play backups as I managed to get the 120GB HD on sale, but apparently even that voids the warranty, as my friend found out when his Red Ringed on him. As far as games go, Sony's 2009>>>>>>>>>>>>>Microsoft's 2009

Killzone 2
Infamous
Uncharted 2
Final Fantasy 13 Vs(Real time JRPG ftw)
God of War III
WarDevil(Assuming the game hasn't become vaporware)
Hopefully Team Ico's game as well(Team behind Ico and Shadown of the Colossus)

Only thing I see putting in my 360 next year is Alan Wake and Splinter Cell.

ive owned both at the same time. started with the xbox. but later sold it.(red ring-why am i not surprised)

i decided to keep my ps3 after giving them both equal game time.

the ps3 has a much more professional look, this includes all application that you can run.

if you opt to volunteer your ps3 cell processor you can contribute to a worthy cause called 'folding at home' which runs if you leave your ps3 on without playing games. it runs through algorythms for alzhymers reseach for stanford university. i thought that was amazing.

life with playstation home. another great application which i actually use. it gives you a view of the earth which you can rotate and zoom up on major cities in the world and you can see the top five news related events thanks to google. great application.

a web browser. cant beat having the internet on your console can you?its great if you must use the internet while your wife/girlfriend is using the desktop.

although its not out yet, and frankly im patient and occupied with my other great games. playstation HOME is going to bring the online community to the top!!i have the beta, and its freakin sick...

blu ray is nice, hey guess what, i can afford to buy blu ray ok nuff said.

want a bigger hard drive, go ahead and buy an internal harddrive 2.5inch and you can go large with a 300+ gb hard drive. hello.

who has time to pay a monthly fee for online play. not me, i spent it on blu rays.

i wish any xbox 360 well with gears and other exclusive's cause im happy with my game selection, some times you have to bite the bullet and just wish the other gamers well too. after accomplishing this, you'll be able to look at your ps3 for what it is.. a gentlemans gaming machine.

technically speaking, i cant prove the ps3 is better, but ask youself this...
if ps3 games come on a blu ray disk and xbox 360 games come on a dvd. which is the better game based on the raw hardware. ps3.

** now if only i can get mass effect to run on my pc i would super happy**
general specs:

2.4hz quad core
3 g ram
graphics card is invidia g force 6800
direct x 10
vista home premium
