People Said to Believe in Aliens and Ghosts More Than God

More people believe in aliens and ghosts than in God, a new survey finds, according to a British newspaper.

That said, the poll of 3,000 people found that 58 percent believe in the supernatural, including paranormal encounters, while 54 percent believe God exists. Women were more likely than men to believe in the supernatural and were also more likely to visit a medium.

All part of same. Supernatural is nature. Supernatural is just that part of nature that we struggle to understand. Our science is materialistic, primitive and so we must separate nature from the supernatural. A society one thousand years ahead of us could master extragalactic travel. Those one billion years ahead of us could dispense with a need for flesh, bodies, vehicles, money, materialist consumerism, hatred, wars, racism and crime. Death would be a primitive concept because there is no further need for the container of the spirit. They would be spiritual watchers and could transcend to their next level or existence as easily as we would trade in a car. All of their knowledge would be integrated, biochemistry with religion; mathematics with psychology all one subject, one knowledge. They would be highly evolved spiritual entities that we might call supernatural, angels or 'gods'. While I'm no fan of religion, the cynic within me thinks "ghosts" and "aliens" (mostly extraterrestrials) are mankind's 21st Century version of centuries old angels and demons. While a strong pseudoscientific case can be made for both (aliens and ghosts), there is still no definitive answer. That's not surprising as ambiguity forces the individual to be final subjective decider, and individuals as as easy to manipulate as play dough. The one and only true religion, in my opinion, is the hope that observation, measurement, and reason can provide us with a high degree of probability of what is actually reality. Even science can never prove with absolute certainty, only how probable something is.

It's a common conclusion that life exists (including intelligent life) elsewhere in the universe, it's a matter of statistics.

Ghosts and God are a bit more trouble, and science can't really say much about them- they are supernatural.

Personally I believe extraterrestrials exist, I also believe ghosts may well exist, but I don't know what to say about God.

I too believe that biological, even intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe, and probably has long before we came around. I'm referring to the view of aliens visiting earth, interacting, etc.. That belief began to transpire during the renaissance and enlightenment age, maturing in the industrial revolution. It shifted from such visitors being gods to beings of other worldly origin. Those combined eras (to the present) encompass the greatest expansion of education and scientific knowledge, really, in modern human history.

Well yes, I think that the majority of all this stuff is imaginary, however I've seen enough UFO stuff to leave me scratching my head- so I leave it open.

An example of the stupidity is sleep paralysis. It used to be connected with specific spectres or demons, but now people think they are being abducted.

Alien Abduction is incredibly outlandish.
