Condi Rice makes narrow escape in Auckland

www.indymedia.org

Auckland University Students Association had to withdraw the bounty it placed on the head of Condoleezza Rice two days earlier, under threat of legal action. However, the students association at Victoria University in Wellington doubled the price, offering $10,000 for a successful citizen's arrest. Although several people turned up to the demo with handcuffs, the chance to nab Rice didn't present itself. Police refused to cooperate in the arrest of this war criminal, giving the irrelevant excuse
Police had planned to limit protest at the Langham hotel by keeping protesters on the opposite side of the road, behind shiny new barricades that had obviously been bought specially for the occasion.

Wow - it would have been awesome had they actually been able to arrest Condi Rice!

From my understanding anyway, basically everybody part of the current administration will not be able to leave the U.S. after they are out.

There are bounties throughout the world on their heads and they will be arrested - once they are not traveling dignataries.
Which right now the police have to protect them when they travel, but after they leave office I believe they will be fair game.

Awhile back there was an article somewhere about how the Bush adminstration people were worried about leaving the country due to being arrested.

Wouldn't it be awesome if some of them are actually arrested and tried for war crimes!

Please.

It's time to abandon this sick fantasy of arresting the current administration. These people are not war criminals and will never be tried as such.

When will you people let this go?

First of all, I have a feeling a university student association does not have arrest powers. Unless they have a legal warrant for the arrest of someone, I think they are just being partisan prats. Hopefully one of the Bush administration members does travel outside the U.S. after Barry gets sworn in, and one of these prats tries to arrest them, and gets arrested themselves for assault & battery.

If you think I'm in the "one percent" and not the majority, then you are spending too much time on conspiracy websites.

Maybe you should get out of the house a little.

Why do you think Henry Kissinger daren't travel abroad without the protection of a diplomatic passport? He is issued one of those passports when he acts as envoy for Bush: the rest of the time he is holed up in the US. There are several international arrest warrants out for him. The same goes for a number of US point men and a whole stack of Israeli generals and politicians.

And guy c'mon it's not like this is the only administraion either to lie and cheat and commit criminal acts haha fakk bro, Look at your own CIA, Iran Conflict Scandal as an example for a previous one.

He's right, 1% is a bit low, you have far more blind patriots in your country, therefore the same crimes continue to perpetuate.

Lets give the blind patriots a fair % so lets say 2.5% and that is dropping fast. Lets see how patriotic they will be when their house is gone and the bank closed.

The current goverment are the cause of so much death, injustice and turmoil in the current world. Their greed has lead them to cause such harm to innocent people that they must be brought to justice.

If the Americans are not prepared to do it on their own soil then leave the other countries do it. What gives them the right to invade other countries, hang their leader and then rob the country of their natural resources??

The sooner they are caught and brought to justice it might lead as a example to the rest of the leaders not to take the power that has been GIVEN to them for granted and to use it in a way harmful to their fellow mankind no matter what nationality or race.

Hang them all one by one.....a eye for a eye and a tooth for a tooth!!!

So some students from a university tried to make a citizen's arrest and the police told them to go back to class. Wow.

LOL........Wait for them to leave office then call Dog the Bounty Hunter!!!
Of course the police weren't gonna respect the rights of the people to protest...Let alone make an arrest....All they are, are thugs with a badge....No different than merc's...I use to want to be a cop when I was a kid....LOL I settled for being a soldier....Before anyone says anything about killing innocent people, or just being a pawn of the NWO...I just want to state that I am a combat medic (hence my screen name)...I might have been born to kill but I've been trained to heal...I care not for the "success" of the mission....I only care for the lives of my men...I will say this though. If anyone endangers one of my charges I WILL put two in the chest and one in the head.

This is just pitiable. When and how did people get so stupid and obnoxious? Or is it really a mental disorder? How long until BDS is included in the new and revised DVM?

The truth is, Bush could not and did not act alone. Bush did not come up with either the idea nor the plan to invade Iraq - that came from the Clinton Administration. The 911 Commission Report was a joke, loaded with Democrats intent on covering their own butts from the Clinton Administration. Sandy Berger stole evidence from the National Archives and got a slap on the wrist, with barely any media coverage. Some say the paperwork he stole revealed exactly what transpired on 911 and that the Clinton Administration should have known and been prepared. The whole world knows that Saddam did in fact have mega quantities of yellowcake, which was kept secret until it could be safely moved (ending up in Canada). The whole world knows that something was transported from Iraq to Syria in the days leading up to the war, and have no doubts it was materials for making weapons.

And the whole world knows that if the U.S. is demoralized, criminalized, and taken down, there will be no one with the strength, the courage, or the moral convictions to contain terrorism or any other tyranny. What's most pathetic is that there has been a concerted effort on the part of Democrats to do exactly that, for their own political gain. When Baghdad fell, and the Iraqis needed to be assured that we did not want to take over Iraq but only give them their freedom, the Democrats told them exactly the opposite - that Bush was an Imperialist. When the Iraqis desperately needed to know that we would not forsake them (again), the Democrats were demanding we cut and run and abandon them to their fate. They delayed and denied needed supplies and funding for our troops. They have done anything and everything they could to make sure Bush lost this war, with no thought for the horrendous consequences for anyone else - as long as they got what they wanted.

Here's a thought... When the media blackout ends, and the masses learn the hard way that Obama is not only constitutionally ineligible to serve as President, but that he falsified legal documents to cheat his way in, aided and abetted by both elected officials and the national media, will the same people who hate Bush for acting on "faulty" intelligence feel the same about themselves for voting on faulty intelligence?

Thanks to the MSM's massive disinfo campaign run simultaneously with the 08 election campaign, few people even know about the Supreme Court cases challenging Obama's eligibility to be President. Having examined the evidence against Obama thoroughly, it is impossible for any thinking, reasoning, and informed person to not see the obvious problems. Anyone who says otherwise is either living in la la land, or they are lying through their teeth.

May God forgive us our stupidity and help us anyway 'cause we sure as hell need it.

If they have nothing to hide, then they have nothing to worry about.
Put them on trial in an international court.

As I said, if they're innocent then they shouldn't be worried, same as the rest of us right?

And why should they have to put on trial again? Because a bunch of pissed off people say so?

Sorry to be so blunt, but get over it.

Nice way to start an international incident. This would be considered an Act of War.

This goes around, every generation. Naive youth going off half-cocked.

I don't agree with the whole citizens arrest thing, but I do understand the peoples frustration and wanting to take action due to the obvious inaction of our other elected officials. I do feel that this current administration is guilty of War Crimes in the first degree.

TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 118 > § 2441

§ 2441. War crimes

(a) Offense.— Whoever, whether inside or outside the United States, commits a war crime, in any of the circumstances described in subsection (b), shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for life or any term of years, or both, and if death results to the victim, shall also be subject to the penalty of death.
(b) Circumstances.— The circumstances referred to in subsection (a) are that the person committing such war crime or the victim of such war crime is a member of the Armed Forces of the United States or a national of the United States (as defined in section 101 of the Immigration and Nationality Act).
(c) Definition.— As used in this section the term “war crime” means any conduct—
(1) defined as a grave breach in any of the international conventions signed at Geneva 12 August 1949, or any protocol to such convention to which the United States is a party;
(2) prohibited by Article 23, 25, 27, or 28 of the Annex to the Hague Convention IV, Respecting the Laws and Customs of War on Land, signed 18 October 1907;
(3) which constitutes a violation of common Article 3 of the international conventions signed at Geneva, 12 August 1949, or any protocol to such convention to which the United States is a party and which deals with non-international armed conflict; or
(4) of a person who, in relation to an armed conflict and contrary to the provisions of the Protocol on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines, Booby-Traps and Other Devices as amended at Geneva on 3 May 1996 (Protocol II as amended on 3 May 1996), when the United States is a party to such Protocol, willfully kills or causes serious injury to civilians.

"The United Nations charter has a provision which was agreed to by the United States formulated by the United States in fact, after World War II. Its says that from now on, no nation can use armed force without the permission of the U.N. Security Council. They can use force in connection with self-defense, but a country can’t use force in anticipation of self-defense. Regarding Iraq, the last Security Council resolution essentially said, ‘Look, send the weapons inspectors out to Iraq, have them come back and tell us what they’ve found — then we’ll figure out what we’re going to do. The U.S. was impatient, and decided to invade Iraq — which was all pre-arranged of course. So, the United States went to war, in violation of the charter."

Does that mean President Clinton is also a war criminal? He took action without the consent of the UN.

Critics fault President Bush for not obtaining prior U.N. approval for the recent Iraq war, forgetting that President Bill Clinton did not obtain prior U.N. approval to wage war over Kosovo, either. In Iraq, the U.N. Security Council had given open-ended authority in 1991 to the United States "to restore . . . security to the area." While one can argue whether that wording was sufficient to justify the United States' action 12 years later, President Clinton had nothing like that authority when he dropped the first bomb on Belgrade.

To be honest the % of blind patriots her in the USA is around 30%, but like Stephen Colbert said in terms of a glass 1/3 full or 1/3 empty that last 1/3 is "backwash" and he advises against drinking it.

I also love how our dear friend nyk537 likes to spin the idea that Bush is not looked at as a criminal or hated her in the USA and advises "getting out more". I have to wonder where he lives. Myself I travel for work and I am AMAZED at the level of distaste, dare I say disgust and hate, that is leveled against Bush here in the USA just about everywhere I go. Must be something in the water in nyk537's home town, so we can't hold his allegiance against him

I think had we not had a republican controlled congress, senate, and president for the last 8 years Bush at the very least would be having a hard time sitting down.

This administration has quite OBVIOUSLY broken not only US law but international law as well. To argue otherwise is simply a demonstration of willful ignorance or sheer stupidity.

Too bad they couldn't nab Condi in NZ but my hat off to you all for trying.

Innocent until proven guilty. That applies to everyone - your grandmother, your children, you, and your politicians and Condoleeza Rice. Unless those students are ready to present legally concrete evidence and have a case ready that is ready for federal court, they had better think twice.

You try making an arrest without formal charges having been drawn up and I guarantee you that those involved in the arrest will be brought under federal charges of conspiracy and kidnapping, not to mention possible others.

I'd love to see those students succeed in arresting her just so the government will bring the hammer down and make an example of those people. Condi will be the one having the last laugh - her and me that is.
