A surveillance camera captured a ball of light streaking through the sky in Boise, Idaho. There were meteor sightings throughout the Pacific Northwest Tuesday morning. (Feb. 19)

I think we'd definitely know about it if there was another.

If any one local to Idaho is reading this, perhaps you could ring/visit the base to confirm?

WTH!!!

It's not even the same time... they say 6.30/6.45

Then it seems there was another event after all. Case solved.

Good work internos

I haven't looked through the 40 pages of this thread, so I'm not sure if this video has already been posted. Here's a video of the Edmonton, Canada "meteor". Filmed by the police.

I don't know how far this thing traveled, but I just talked to my parents and my dad seen it.

This was near Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan.

He said it seemed like it went down close and that it wasn't like the video he saw when he came home.

Pretty interesting.

Yep. That's to be expected. Every observer sees a meteor from a slightly different perspective and angle. Whiteness accounts can appear to be very confused and all over the place by the uninitiated.

Just as an example (which I posted before), here is a meteor filmed from multiple angles by sites separated by many miles:

ok .. now THAT looks like an airburst!!!! Only problem is, it looks more like an illumination round gone bad LOL .. I guess my biggest problem is with this vid is, as I keep repeating myself, is the flash.

Using the movies and NASA footage
as a somewhat 'guide' to objects entering our atmosphere, weather they are metal or rock or any other substance, they should hit earth atmosphere and within a few seconds begin to ignite and go into a full burn.

So when coming OUT of the atmosphere, and INTO our airspace, it should then already be at full burn. However as stated before, the material inside the object might not be fully ingnited then hit 'critical burn' meaning the would fully ignite causing the 'flash' effect.

Now, here's what I've pieced together, those that have seen this meteorite, say they saw it moving ACROSS the sky (as opposed to DOWN from the sky at an angle) at a LOW distance. One vid of which lit up the night as if it was flying about 500 ft off the ground.

Personally, I think there were more that one object.

This is really puzzling me. Two events, both very similar, nothing found yet in either of the rural areas where the events took place but a search is ongoing. Still have yet to see any non-local news coverage of these events that were both caught on tape.

I saw it from Edmonton.

It appeared to me that it was decending at a 45 degree angle.

I have seen meteors before.... this was a meteor.

No conspiracy here.

Just a lot brighter and faster moving than most of the past vids out there.

I also witnessed a major meteor in the late 70's early 80's. That one was much slower moving.

The only thing I can argue is is possible landing area.

I believe that the authorities and scientist like to keep that as confusing as possible in order to keep souvenir hunters at bay.

It must be the same event. I've heard of no others reported.

This web site by The American Meteor Society has a list of sightings reported. There can be more than one person, in different states, reporting the same meteor, as the times are approximate.

www.amsmeteors.org...

Even the estimates 'size' can be reported differently by different individuals.

How come this video could show in TV NEWS all around the world???

isn't it just a fireball drop from the sky to the earth? shooting stars are everywhere everyday and night.

Thanks C.H.U.D.: the confusion has happened because BBC News just published it as news, it can be found even in Google News, published yesterday with NO clear indications it was OLD news: one had to read that small footnote which reads: Courtesy Idaho Air National Guard - first broadcast 20 Feb 2008, it was misleading to say the least:

Space cowboy offers reward for meteor chunks

VICTORIA HANDYSIDES, METRO EDMONTON
November 23, 2008 04:16

A space cowboy from south of the border is offering big bucks for the first found pieces of giant rocks that fell to the earth.
Countless reports of fire in the sky east of Edmonton Thursday evening, followed by an ear-gouging sonic boom are proof enough for meteorite man Robert Haag, that the sky was falling.
“This is the coolest treasure hunt of the decade,” he said. “It's going to cost the government nothing, and it's all about free enterprise.”
The space rock collector is offering a cool $10,000 for the first piece recovered from the meteor, which, by talking with residents all through the area, he's certain fell near the tiny town of Macklin, Saskatchewan, 100 km south of Lloydminster.
He said that if the reward isn't enough motivation to get doubtful residents on the hunt, he'll up the ante.
“If nobody cares about it and it's not worth anything, then nobody will get up off their couch and keep watching Spongebob,” he said. “People don't often believe it. People often do nothing, and then a kid will get on his bike and ride for five minutes and find the equivalent of a brand new Corvette.”
Haag said meteor hunters should be on the lookout for rocks that look like slabs of melted concrete slathered with black paint, and that if one is found, more will be close by.
Haag said the those most likely to discover pieces of the meteor, are those that heard the boom, indicating they're likely within 30 kms of where it fell.

Mainly when (for lack of a better word) awesome footage like this is taken of a meteorite I will see it on the news, daily and prime time. It will be at the very least mentioned. I remembered watching the video of the meteorite from Australia on local news in the US; why not show great footage of a meteorite so close to home? The scrolling bar below the news on my TV screen usually reports trivial things, more trivial than a meteorite “landing” in a rural area that was filmed in four videos. I’m not saying “oh my gosh, conspiracy”, I’m just pointing out something that seems relatively obvious to me, and is unanswered.
