I'd love to get some massive fantasy RPGs that I can play without signing up for twenty bucks a month or whatever to play it online. Unfortunately,
the amount of time and effort and number of people that it takes to make such a game means that it's pretty much impossible to make a profit on it,
even if it is a bestseller. But this is about the perfect dream game, so...
-something with a world so big that it would take years of real life gaming to explore
-something with so many enemies and items to fight that you'd be finding new things for years
-something with a dozen or so each of races and classes or more, and other character creation things like deity worshipped or some other sort of extra
skills/powers so that there would be hundreds, if not thousands of combinations, allowing for basically infinite replayability and extensive character
customization
-something I could play online, WoW-style, if I wanted to, but also play it solo on my own if I wanted to do that. (but keep the characters separate
from single to multiplayer to prevent abuse) Think Diablo 1 or Unreal Tournament or something, games that you could play solo or online and have them
be just as good either way
-something that is CHALLENGING, not this pansy stuff where you can save every 3 seconds and reload when something doesn't go your way. Once upon a
time, gamers were real men... but that's another thread :p
-something with awesome graphics and sounds, naturally
My personal choice would be a fantasy RPG, but if someone did all of the above in just about any context, whether it be scifi or that cool Roman
history idea another poster had, I'd be all over that, too. If you've ever read the Otherland series by Tad Williams, that game that Orlando plays
in the virtual reality internet is pretty much what I'd want.
