Hi, I took this pic of the moon about 3 am yesterday morning whilst outside having a smoke (naughty me I know!).

I've never seen anything like this that I can remember - and I've been on this planet more years than I care to admit to. There were two layers of cloud that the moon was shining through, and the lowest level had this bright orangey-brown edge to it. It was really quite spectacular.

I was just wondering whether any of you had seen this sort of effect before or if any of our weather bods can explain it.

Cheers

Hi there.

I would love to see that picture, but the link does not work. At least not for me.

The moon views were outstanding all weekend.

It looked so big like you could almost touch it.

I have an extreme attraction to our moon.

The picture link did not work. Hope you can work on it so we can see what you saw.

The first possible explanation that comes to mind is a Moon halo:
but the photo isn't clear enough, the lack of details may have changed changed the actual appearance of the phenomenon. I believe that it has been some great spectacle to the naked eye.
Thanks for sharing.
