Just a little background - I am a scientist residing in downtown Chicago, and have been having apocolyptic dreams for the past 2 years. Most of the
time the dreams are bizzare and don't make any sense to me because I can't figure out the location or the context. But let me tell ya'...last
night, I had the most vivid dream, I remember details, sounds, things being said. Anyway, here it goes:
It is a typical spring/summer morning in Chicago, I can tell because I am not dressed in my winter clothes, and it looks quite sunny outside. It is
during the week, because I am up early getting ready to go to the lab. I run a little bit late for some reason, and realize that I will probably miss
the shuttle to the university. I say goodbye to my dogs and leave the apartment.
I start walking down the street toward the shuttle stop on the main street and I notice from a distance there is a lot of police sirens and noise
coming from the street I get closer and I notice dozens of ambulances, fire trucks, police cars on the main-street. I then look to see what all the
fuss is about and I notice the most horrifying scene bodies everywhere decapitated torsos, legs, arms, pieces, faces of students/faculty that I
recognize since these are the people that I usually wait for the bus.
I keep walking down the main street, and all I hear is Cops saying things like "Massacre/Deliberate/Terrorist" and it appears as though the dozen or
students and faculty who were massacred were decapitated by terrorists and their bodies were all over the place because they were trying to run away.
Anyway, I keep walking east toward Lake Michigan, and I start to hear a rumble and I notice from a distance a handful of people running toward me
telling to RUN RUN BOMB BOMB!! (a young hispanic woman, a white guy and girl, and just a bunch of random people)
So I start running back in the direction I came, I then feel the ground shake, a really loud noise, and then just a whoosh of tremendous heat coming
from behind me. I manage to lay down on the floor behind a brick wall, my last thought being that I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to my loved
ones...
I then did the usual "rewind" in my dream to see if there was a way to survive the attack...but I then really had to get up and go to work.
My mind tells me that bombs had gone off in downtown chicago, and that is why people were running, and the final massive bomb was a nuke.
I just thought I would share this with you all, I am still replaying it in my head as I write this. The interesting thing about this dream was the
fact that I knew where I was, time-wise and season, and also specific location also that it all was directly through my eyes...you know how sometimes
you have dreams and you are able to see "outside" your body and more like in third person...well this dream was entirely first person, which rarely
happens to me.
