The US Geological Survey is reporting a 7.8 magnitude earthquake has struck the Minhasa region of Indonesia's Sulawesi island early this morning. A tsunami alert has been issued. The centre says the quake struck 136 kilometres from Gorontalo in Sulawesi at a depth of 21 kilometres.
