Does one have to complete 25 posts before the upload option is available? do that apply to adding avatar images form my computer? If not would someone be so kind as to point me in the right direction? thanks.

you can place an avatar anytime you wish, Please Review: Avatar and Signature Guidelines there are also many talented members who can help or make an avatar for you as well.

I believe this post limit is a restriction on new members. After 25 posts, members are offered upload space directly on ATS. However, you can use other means to host an avatar for yourself. I regularly use Image Shack to host images.

Yes, but you need the upload space for a background avatar image.

It's is so people cannot steal the use of ATS servers.
