I am just testing the waters of BTS here, so forgive me if I make a mistake.

I was just curious if people would be willing to discuss the most amazing places that they have ever been?

For me it would have to be the Stone Forest (Kunming Stone Forest) in China.

I was only 17 when I was there but it has been the most amazing place I have ever been. Simply a natural wonder.

www.travelchinaguide.com...

Walking through the Stone Forest, visitors marvel at the natural stone masterpieces and are bewitched by the intricate formations. The magnificent, strange and steep landscape creates countless labyrinthine vistas, including:

Major Stone Forest, Minor Stone Forest and Naigu Stone Forest, all of which feature stones in various formations. Animals, plants, and even human figures can be found here. Some are elegant, some are rugged, and each is lifelike with its own distinguishing characteristics.

The pictures really don't do it justice. I mean, we toured much of China and we saw some really amazing things but the Stone Forest touched me like nothing else. I have seen a lot of the world, from Europe to Asia and I still hold the Stone Forest above everything else.

I have yet to travel much at all. A must in my future if my other half has any say in it.

The most spectacular place for me was New York city.

In this order:

1. The Grand Canyon
2. Diego Garcia
3. Seoul Korea
4. Mt. Fuji
5. Cranberry Glades WV
6. Chicago

There are many more, but those stick in my mind as having given me the "WOW" feature.

Korea was magical as I spent some vacation time there and just "Saw the Sights"

My wife and I went to the Grand Canyon on our Honeymoon and I would suggest that trip to everyone. We drove and did a "Tourist" thing all across the country and back.

Great Thread!

Yes, the Grand Canyon was amazing. The first time I saw it I was speechless. The next time I went with some friends on a hike into it to a place called Havasupai. It has some amazing turquoise water. It is something like an 11 mile hike in, but well worth it.

I was thrilled to have climbed Mt Fuji, but I was disappointed when I finally got to the crater. I was hoping for bubbling lava or something exciting, only to find a few wisps of steam. The shrine was pretty neat up there too.

You went to Havasupai? Or just took a donkey ride down the canyon? In the Havasupai area, it would be impossible to miss the turquoise... and I am colorblind! lol

True, that is probably why I liked the place so much. Isn't turquoise a bit of a blue/green? Green is the devil!

Mt Fuji? That sounds impressive. I have altitude sickness... I passed out down a flight of stairs in Denver.... I don' t think I could have made that hike.

Yes, but it is the most beautiful blue. Poor Karl. I bet my avatar messes with you eh? Especially the red and green one. My background is turquoise.

It was a little more difficult than climbing stairs in Denver. You should probably avoid it if possible. Near the top, I couldn't walk more than 5 or 10 feet without having to sit down to catch my breath.

yes I would think so, considering the flight of stairs was in a nice ski condo..... I was in Dillon Colorado to be exact.... I have been sick like that in a lot of high places. I would never make it to Machu Picchu... spelling? so sad...

I would say Vilcabomba Ecuador. on the border with Peru. It is called the valley of longetivity due to the fact so many people live to be over 100. It was listed in Guiness for a while as the best place in the world to live. Incredible place, especially when imbibing in the local cactus juice.

Amazing video and pictures....

Sadly, the best place I have been to so far is Hawaii. Nicest water I have ever swam in, obviously.

Next is the state of Vermont. Went there in the winter and went hiking up some mountains. I believe the wind was blowing a good 50 mph at least. One of the greatest feelings of my life so far.

Need to explore the world some more. Nice thread and thanks.
