I've been using MS Paint off and on for a while and I want to step up to a good graphics suite. I'm new to this software so any tips are appreciated. Which brand you support and a description why would be nice.

Thanks

Paint.NET and GIMP are the first ones that come to mind if you're looking for a free image editing tool. you should try them out first before shelling out some cash on commercial solutions.

here's a list of other free image editors.

I use Corel Photopaint 9. Got it online for fifty bucks. It works great.

One word....GIMP.

It is just as effective as Adobe and Corel and it is free. I have used all three and can say with confidence that once you learn the software, the design results are of equal quality.
