The only thing better then a nuke would be to hook a guidance package to a meteorite.

One about 50 tons would do a lot of damage to a target and would look like a natural meteorite.
A nickel iron would make a nice crator.
A stony meteorite could make a nice air burst weapon.

A 250 ton meteorite would make a city go away and be seen as a act of god.

A tunguska event over Waziristan region of Pakistan could take out most of the leadership of Al-Qaeda and the Taliban and look like a natural event.
en.wikipedia.org...

None of these could be proved to be anything but a act of god.
This would be a plus in the fact that there would be no country to blame.

hmm i have a book about something like this hang on let me just find it.....
ok found it the book is in a series called mortal engines its about our city's on wheels
and a lot more jibber jabber but any way in the second book there are these people that find out about this cannon in space i think in the book it got destroyed but there was another one which is talked about in the 3rd book and the cannon is called ODIN
oo now i remember in the second book the cannon is called medusa the people who controlled it managed to destroy a city any way Medusa went boom boom and now there is ODIN (Remember im talking about books here lol). so anyway its a good series i suggest reading them (the books XD). yeh so Medusa and ODIN sort of sound like this Rod from God thing and o boy if this thing is real it could cause some series damage i know why dont people look into space with a telescope and see if they can spot it i think they should be able to unless its covered with a cloaking device which would be a shame
or maybe it doesint exist at all wouldn't that be nice but then no end of the world as we know it i dont mean end of the world humanities gone gone i just mean that the world wont be the same any way im rambling now im gonna go and jump on another post.....

Nope. Look at the maths. You'd need something very, very much bigger, in the thousands of tons range. And even then are are a lot of technical issues (how accurately do you think you'll be able to target it? Remember your meteorite will not be perfectly homogenous, so it will not follow a perfectly straight path as it descends).

Not very practical.
