Hey, OP, I'm a liberal and I'm glum about the situation. It's not necessarily because Obama won - it's the big picture no matter who would have won. So I am lamenting the particular flavor of doom that we have with Obama here.

I admit we need some positivity to balance this out, but I don't think we should deny the danger of a police state right now. I also see that we do have more upbeat posts springing up - about how to "fight back" in positive ways by being more self-reliant, etc. Very important! We need solutions and realistic coping in response to the negative stuff.

I don't see all of these people as neo-cons, btw. I think the trend of the posts are merely a sign of the times, and one to pay attention to. They are a pulse of the more paranoid of us, if you will. Now, the Bible posts I don't really read, so I guess I'm out of the loop on that one. However, just because I'm not into the Bible doesn't mean that I don't share some of the Christian views on end times. That theme also happens to run through other religions. Besides, I think it's important to hear a variety of views, or at least get the news on my preferred topics from a variety of people. Different people specialize in different things, so if that means I'll listen to a conservative Christian talk about some things of which I'm clueless and in need of educating on, then so be it. If I disagree, I can ignore what they say or keep the parts that make sense to me.

I have to agree with the person that began the post.
I found Barack Obama a facinating and carismatic [excuse the spelling] individual, and a huge improvement from the halfwit Americans have had to put up with for the last 8 years, what I cant believe is barack obama isnt even president yet and he's already the antichrist, a dictator, there's even a couple of impeach Barack Obama sites already on the internet.
Give the guy a chance, after all, look at what GWB has done.
Take the bible posts and quote them in church where they belong, to my mind religious nut ball thought has no place with intelligent people.

This is what I would expect from an ATS member. What I have seen is much what he has stated.

Somehow we have picked up an ungrounded following that neither understands or follows the path of the seeking of truth. Statements such as Obama being the Antichrist to communist America, and God knows whatever else just seem to be flooding these forums and its to the point where Im not enjoying my time here any more.

Were no longer productive, but rather having to combat slander and outright stupidity.

I think Ill go back to BTS in the faith forum. But even that is getting infiltrated by the mindless.

Peace

this is what else is wrong with ATS. Links, Pictures, copy and paste warriors. Either you understand the topic and can speek from your own knowledge or you slow us down. Thanks, smarten up.

Wait wait wait so let me get this straight. You just copied and pasted my post, instead of just replying like me, and you're gonna bash me for "copying and pasting". I'm sorry I didn't want to push forward any facts without providing sources to back it up.
YOU are the one that interpreted Bush holding hands and smooching King Abdullah as Hard Ball.

Also how am I to gain knowledge if I don't read books or articles? And if gain it as knowledge use said books and articles as sources.

So what do you "understand about the topic" as opposed to what I have said.
How long did it take Brazil to gain energy independence? 20-30 years? I bet we could do it in a quarter of the time. If we threw 720 Billion at our energy issues instead of the Iraq war.

Well first off....as far as djpaec "smarten(ing) up"....speek is spelled "speak" and in your other post up-most is actually spelled "utmost"

this is the type of post that is ruining ATS. Whats with the long drawn out paragraphs about nothing? keep it short and swee pleeeeeeeeeze

YOU believed it to be about "nothing" which says a great deal about you.
BTW it was not very long and about as long as your post just prior...funny how posts seem so long when you don't have the intellect to entertain someone elses perspective.

I'll post my opinions as I like...

You my friend, were the one that brought up kings.
When the hell did I say America "sucked".
Maybe YOU should do some reading up, cause if you did you'd know our government loves propping up dictators
Who the hell do you think you're calling a terrorist?
Am I a terrorist because I say Habeus Corpus should be re-instated for whoever we are imprisoning?
Or is it because I think the patriot act, listening in on Americans phone calls and recording everything that's said and done on the internet, goes against everything our Constitution stands for?
Last time I checked it was patriotic to question your country. Maybe YOU should read up on the founding fathers.

somebody posting all these pictures and passages from another website was, the copy and paste warrior, you know who you are, was talking about some King and his warm relationship with President Bush...to that guy

I don't care, and never will care, about some lame king sucking up to Bush.

About the idiot who thinks I called him a terrorist

I said, you liberals who think the terrorists are right and that America is the bad guy, I am telling you I will NEVER believe that.

I can't be convinced by a terrorists or by Obama, "We are bombing innocent children and civilians in Iraq" "Irans a tiny country, not a serious threat"

anyway, you liberals that are petrified of terrorists and believe everything they say, I am here to tell you that's your choice to believe them.

I believe they are liars and scum. I support my President whether it be Bush or Obama one hundred percent you will never see me bash this great country to win an election like the media did with the Iraq war.

I have too much love for this great nation: a shining city on a hill.

here`s a song to cheer you all up

tony Christie

Sha la la lala lalala
Sha la la lala lalala
Sha la la lala lalala

When the day is dawning on a Texas Sunday morning
how I long to be there
with AMERO who's waiting for me there
every lonely city where I hang my hat
ain't as half as pretty as where my wedge is at

Is this the way to OBAMA-MERO
every night I've been hugging my pillow
dreaming dreams of Amar-MERO sweet AMERO who waits for me
show me the way to OBAMA-MERO
I've been weeping like a willow
crying over AMERO
and sweet AMERO who waits for me

Sha la la lala lalala Sha la la lala lalala
Sha la la lala lalala and AMERO who waits for me

There's a congress bell ringing
hear the song of joy that it's singing
for the sweet MONEY and the guy who's coming to see him
just beyong the SUPER highway, there's an open plan
and it keeps me going through the CEMENT and SAND

Is this the way to OBAMA-MERO every night I've been hugging my pillow
dreaming dreams of Amar-MERO sweet AMERO who waits for me
show me the way to OBAMA-MERO
i no its some where between canada and mexico
crying over OBAMA-MERO
and sweet MONEY who waits for me

Sha la la lala lalala Sha la la lala lalala
Sha la la lala lalala and AMERO who waits for me

To the people who are saying that there are even more posts bashing Bush, a couple of things.

First of all, of course there are more posts Bashing Bush. He's been the President for almost eight years, Obama hasn't even started yet. And the ones bashing Bush are for things he's actually done, like Iraq, the huge national debt, the illegal wiretaps and so forth.

When Bush was elected in 2000, you didn't hear this ludicrous stuff about how he was going to annul the Constitution, commit genocide on the American people, enslave half the population and create an aristocratic dictatorship. The bashing was about the Supreme Court decision, the fact that he actually lost the popular vote by nearly half a million, the fact that his tax cut did virtually nothing for the middle class and that he was going to blurr the seperation of church and state.

People didn't feel the need to insult Bush. He had campaigned as "a uniter, not a divider" (wow did that ever turn out to be dead wrong) so even many of the people who voted against him were willing to at least give him a chance. The only name they hung on him was "Shrub."

What the OP is talking about is the paranoid hysteria that isn't fact based at all, the compelling need to label and insult Obama and those who voted for him, the eagerness to distort him in a very dishonest, very self-serving way and the proclivity to make preposterous predictions about what will happen under his presidency. It's not logical, it's not based on any realistic comprehension of the facts and it frequently comes off like a retarded guy throwing a temper tantrum. It's so incredibly extreme. And especially when Obama hasn't even started yet.

Uh, neo-con? Excuse me, but when did distrusting and disliking Barack Obama become the sole property of the liberalized Republican movement? Truth be told, the so-called "neo-cons" were alot less angry over him being elected than we traditional conservatives were. I think you're allowing jargon and labeling to cloud your initial post, my friend.

I will continue to rail against Obama because he represents the antithesis of everything I stand for. Take everything I disliked about George Bush (which is pretty much everything aside from his *stated* religious underpinnings and the fact that he took out Saddam Husein, an act I do believe was perfectly OK) and add to that an additional socialist agenda which I find apalling and you have Obama. Considering the fact that Obama voted to reup the Patriot Act, voted for FISA, and supported fully the government's corporate handout and I honestly don't see how any real neo-con can dislike the man as he clearly toes the neo-con line succinctly.

The OP understands that expanding government, increasing welfare and taxation, 'bailing out' or buying up private industry, imposing or planning to impose oppressive laws, cataloging Americans for safety/security whatever, and the wonderful "Civilian Security Force" make Obama 'neo' as all hell, right?

Now that he's surrounding himself with Clintonites he's perhaps more 'neo' than Bush and that's one hell of an accomplishment.

3. Obama dictatorship
4. Extremely long post of bible passages about why we need to bow down to Jesus
5. Posts about "you cant pry my guns from my cold dead hands"
6. Posts about Obama the Zionist

I think you have a certain flower colored pair of glasses on and you missed the Bush/republican/conservative/christian/religion bash of 2006-2008

Why are you reading them?

Aside from your sneaky way of belittling and insulting everyone with whom you dont agree with a post that seems to have avoided being relegated to a rant (as most conservative comments like this do), I basically agree with you...

But seeing that the last 2 years or so have been a huge Bush/republican/conservative/christian/bashing Party the change somewhat restores my faith in the saying..

what goes around comes around.

I will be another on to leave my opinion and agree with what OP said..Bottom line is AMERICANS..YEAH YOU..We voted this man into the office of presidency and now there is nothing we can do, Im real tired of of all this anti Obama crap, The man has not even sat in the Oval Office yet and you damn him to hell, As ive staed before and i will admit Im a bit skeptic because I used to be a hardcore republican but then I saw how they have bilked the american taxpayers out of billion of dollars and if you want to see the anti christ, Just look at Halliburton and Dick Cheney. I willing to open up my mind and give president elect Obama a chance and so should you and if its because hes black then you all are truly narrow minded individuals..I hope not to think that about a country I seved and loved...

The vast majority of these people are not neo-cons, they are simple, uneducated, red-neck trailer trash.

Even being a neo-con is far too much an intellectual stretch for these hate-filled, bible thumping inbred paranoiacs. And it's the same old story - if you are not exactly like me - you should be killed.

ALL religious fundamentalists, without regard to so-called religion, are now, and have always been, and always will be the enemy of free, thinking, caring people.

17 flags and god knows how many stars for a totally useless thread.

Retzius, what you are really saying is you are intolerant of others views and opposed to free speech. You clearly mean that you don't want anyone here who does not agree with you. Wars are generally caused by that exact same attitude.

My suggestion would be to start your own board. If you think that there are no conspiracies on the Left side of the equation, you are completely brainwashed. Both the Left and the Right are equally screwed up and crawling with conspiracies. You have to have an open mind to know that however.

When you see threads you don't like, don't read them. It is so simple a child could figure that out. When a five year old picks up the television remote and starts clicking, they don't stop till they find something they like. They don't stop and watch the financial news and then whine about how they don't like it, they change the channel to something they like. Same applies here.

What you want is censorship. Otherwise, you would just stop reading the posts you don't like. Of course I do understand that these smear campaign threads get you lots of points which is in and of itself sad. The upside is we get to see who the truly bigoted intolerant people are as they pass insults back and forth on these worthless threads.

There needs to be an ATS Rant, Whine and Moan Forum so other forums don't get clogged up with these constant, whiny temper tantrum threads.
