Obama inheriting broad covert ops policies

ap.google.com

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Bush leaves President-elect Obama broad latitude for covert action in countries with which the United States is not at war, powers that Obama could scale back along with other Bush presidential orders now under consideration for rescinding.

But he's not likely to do that.

There has been much ATS discussion about all the power George Bush has been given to exercise black ops and spy on Americans. It seems as though everyone is ignoring that Obama has stated that he will not likely end any of these expanded powers - he wants to use them himself. Further evidence that those in power are only interested in using the U.S. constitution as toilet paper.

It is positively fascinating how the crowd that spent so much time derailing George Bush for giving himself these kind of powers has no comment on Obama's decision to keep them. Or is it OK to do this...as long as the person doing it matches your political ideology?

There is a relevant point of transition.

Currently, these issues are Bush's legacy (No one seems to know that Clinton helped fund DynaCorp as a corporate army in countries such as Columbia; research it).

Obama has yet to do anything. Let's discuss his actions rather than his intentions. And perhaps we as a website will begin to recognize the subtle nuances and agreements in each administration so that we can make a valid case to the 'secret government'. The internet society has only just begin and we should start looking for these similarities to recognize consistencies and trends.

Really...look up Clinton and Dynacorp. That is what was happening while everyone was talking about what's her face...
