Two things to concider:
1) The things O'bama now knows from secert Presidential briefings that he didnt know when he made the promises.

2) When in our short history have we ever had a president that lived up to all their promises.

3) We as voting citizens have no one to blame but oursleves for this ..

For those who find this stuff seriously objectionable.... I just did the math, took about 3 seconds.

52 weeks in a year.
50 hrs a year = an hour a week, if you take off for winter holidays, vacations.
100 hrs a year = 2 hours a week.

Maybe a little more if summer isn't included.

$4000/100 = $40/hr.

So, since kids tend to have a me-first mentality, it seems to me that giving them a little experience doing something for the overall community and a bit of responsibility is a good thing. Beats spending several hours a day watching the pop-tart's latest video and playing Kill-O-Matic IV.

And not to sound harsh, but is your home really in such dire condition that an hour or so a week less will make it look like the home of the Simpsons' crazy cat lady?

I don't know what all the hub-bub is about. I don't see Hitler in these words at all. As for them taking this section of the website down that BS as well.

America Serves

The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges.

I just don't see it.

There are some that only sees what serves themselves...there are others that see whats good for us all.

Giving your life for your fellow man, is a calling of Jesus Christ.

"When you choose to serve -- whether it's your nation, your community or simply your neighborhood -- you are connected to that fundamental American ideal that we want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not just for ourselves, but for all Americans. That's why it's called the American dream."

Gods speed.

Change is in the wind.

Do kids and their parents not already have the opportunity to volunteer in the community?

Maybe that is the difference between me and the Obama tribe. I believe in letting people decided for themselves to give their time and money, as opposed to being told to.

It's hard sometimes not wanting to delve into the realm of name calling while reading some of the replies here. Do some of you not read everything before replying? Let me lay it down again to get everyone up to speed.

Post election, Obama set up the Change.gov website. Under the agenda area there were some things that became controversial. There were differences between the agenda information originally listed on the change.gov and barakobama.com site (discovered after the removal of the agenda info from the .gov site) The .gov site then proclaimed the site was being updated. Now, there is revised information under the agenda on the .gov site.

Now, I hope we are all on the same page as to what happened. So, this is not an issue because of the update itself. There are two issue at its core. The first is the wording of some parts of the agenda. The second, is the fact that the 'controversial' items were pulled after news organizations started making people aware of its existence. The question becomes, Why? Is it simply numerous oversights by some incompetent content editor? Is it they don't want to scare the be bejesus out of 50% of the population by revealing their inner desire/intent? That is debatable. My own opinion on the matter, based upon his character and history, is the later.

Some of the original wording of the .gov agenda was socialist leaning. For the last time, I will describe this original agenda as a drive towards socialism. NOT that having them IS Socialism, but that instituting them brings American one step closer to Socialism.

Let me lay it down to you.

I have already shown in this thread that three months ago the blueprint for change was posted on a different site and the one on his campaign site are still up as stated in your link in the OP.

His campaign site is still up as are his promises.

You didn't even check the validity of your own thread much less listen to our responses that showed that it was totally without merit.

Obamas current campaign site and the blueprint:
origin.barackobama.com...

and one where the blueprint was posted three months ago.
www.scribd.com...

Ignorance denied in this thread yet a third time!

Peace

Apparently, you can't see the forest through the trees.

His pre-election campaign agenda, was changed for his initial .gov site. Effectively altering his 'promises.'

Validity, verified.

The whole point is, what was posted on CHANGE.GOV post election, was different than the blueprint and url you provided. That is FACT.

I brought this news thread up to peoples attention to consider, speculate and debate 'WHY?'

Was that statement found anywhere in the document you linked or was it your own spin?

You see wolf, spin is spin. I spin that Obama maintains his campaign site and the link you provided said that the change.gov was being retooled.

I see Obama is being altruistic, which is whats good for all of us.

What man leading the country would not do for another man what is best for himself?

You base a website on a change in tactic, and I, realize that websites takes time and effort as well as planning to bring to full capacity.

Paranoia will destroya.

Simply my assessment based upon his own words and actions.

I see Obama is being altruistic, which is whats good for all of us.

On an individual level, altruism is nice. When it is mandated by government, it is un-American.

What man leading the country would not do for another man what is best for himself?

When a man is protected by law via Secret Service and the military, what need is there for him to own a gun? Thus, to restrict or limit that right in others does benefit him. What benefits him is to maintain or garner even more power, if that means bringing America further down, then I expect that of him.

You base a website on a change in tactic, and I, realize that websites takes time and effort as well as planning to bring to full capacity.

When you are chosen to be President of the USA, you don't throw up an agenda within two days that isn't ready to go...unless it was, but you just didn't like the reaction.

Paranoia will destroya.
That's cute.

This is what is really scary...

You know nothing about my life and yet you reply this way to me...

I am by no means trying to sound hateful but would like to give you some more information about my life since you have decided to judge my me without knowing anything about me...

In the year 2000 I had cancer...My chemo and radiation treatments caused extreme nerve damage to my body.

This summer for our summer vacation I had to have Decompression brain surgery...

My son is 13...and in middle school...

I get up at 5:30am five days a week to get him to school...

I have a new grandchild...That "we" keep three days a week...and one over night...( friday till saturday evening)

We have Sundays to rest so we can start over again...(or do major yard or housework )

My point is...Even now on the Change.gov website it says ALL middle school and high school students do 50 hours a year community service...

Is this a free country???

Not for long "IF" something like this becomes mandatory or required !!!

I don't consider my son to have a me-first mentality because we work 'Together" at keeping our life together and running our home...He has always been my helper...

I am not trying to sound selfish...

Before I became disabled I worked for Hospice...

But our life is very busy...It takes everything we have to stay afloat...

The main thing is I am sure most families struggle with time and physical energies just like we do...

The only reason I got upset is because it says this on his websites...Maybe it will never happen...I don't know...???

But...I will not be thrilled about something that might be FORCED on my family...Something that could cause us a lot of hardship...

I can't help but wonder???

If you were a single parent, with your own home to keep up ,and had health problems "then might this not bother you too???"

Your reply did sound harsh... It was hurtful...

It was my opinion...On something that would have a impact on my families life...

I don't reply on this site very often...But I have lurked for a long time...Then I joined so I could reply every so often...

To be honest...I didn't like McCain or Obama...I am very worried...I have a bad feeling The United States is in really big trouble...

I don't feel like Obama will be "Allowed" to make anything any better...

Of coarse I don"t want the U.S. to go down the toilet...I have children and one grandchild so far and I am worried sick about their future...

Just what is going to happen to this country???

This is just one of the major issues that is bothering me...

Thank you for mentioning about Obama's promoting compulsatory servitude disguised as patriotism.

I watched his victory speech and the only thing that stopped me dead in my tracks was when he began talking about servitude. It was like a hush went over the crowd when he first spoke of it in that speech. I was shocked to hear him say it. Mandatory service for citizens of all ages does not reflect the democratic principles of our constitution.

I visited his new website and found it's contents to be of the very bare-bones/generalized variety with no real specifics mentioned.

America needs to wake up and move to impeach him as his agenda is anti-American.

Impeach him based off of what? What you inferred he was saying? Don't think someone can be impeached from that.

Do you have anything real he could be impeached from or are you just trying to stir the pot?

Thank you...

Yes...I think they got wind people were freaking out because the wording has been changed and toned down...(on the websites...)

It is being adjusted...

As I am sure it will continue to be adjusted...Until it will not even resemble what was there to start with...

Just my opinion...But...I do not think it will be long before people will realize things are not going to get better...From Obamas promises of change...
I know many people already know this...

But...The Obama supporters get ugly at times just for a simple negative opinion...

I wish he could make things better...

But honestly didn't have any faith in Obama or McCain...

Just a sick gut feeling...Like being caged...

No real choice to start with...

Just more American paranoia and ignorance rearing its face. Did you really say impeach? We didn't impeach anyone when Social Security was started or the new deal now did we.

Jesus Christ commanded Love one another.
That in doing so you honor the will of the father.
Giving ones life for a fellow man just as we ask our serviceman, yet in times of peace, giving of ones self.

The days of the isolationist elitist who thinks that the bulk of humanity works to line their purses is coming to a close, and a new day of systems that help all is coming.

When Jesus Christ returns, will people be calling him a communist and trying to throw him out of his own house?

Matthew 21

Therefore when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vine-growers?” 41 They said to Him, “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end, and will rent out the vineyard to other vine-growers who will pay him the proceeds at the proper seasons.” 42 Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone; THIS CAME ABOUT FROM THE LORD, AND IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR EYES’?

Conquerable by no enemy.

Peace

honestly i think the community service thing sounds pretty good. i mean...that is $40 an hour as previously stated...and its optional from what i can tell. so...if you want 4 grand spend 100 hours in a year helping people. more money for you and a better community. OH JESUS!!!THIS IS SO EVILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

The Obama website has been "retooled" alright - I especially liked the agendas posted on the Homeland Security section

I didn't like the parts about increased domesic information gathering and sharing, nor the item about the internet, which in my honest opinion is opening the door to tax the internet.

Other than these slight irritating details it seems that most of Obama's efforts seem genuine.

Well, I hope everyone is satisfied that they voted for Obama... the American people will get what they deserve. We will be losing one of our fundamental rights... "THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS". Obama has been trying to take away our gun rights for quite awhile! And it will get worse now that he's in office... GOD HELP AMERICA!

I have found the archived change.gov website before it was changed. In my previous posts I said I didn't see a complete agenda on it when I visited a couple of days ago, that's why I asked for someone to show me what exactly had been changed.

I hope you don't get offended Wolf321 that I didn't take you on your word or the Washington Time's article, but since I had been on the website before and didn't saw the agenda, I asked for some proof.

I stand corrected that the website indeed had a complete agenda, and the archived pages are available here.

Change.gov, being the website of the President-Elect and the Transition Team, it was created post election.

However, from what I'm seeing so far, comparing the original change.gov agenda and what's on Barack Obama's campaign website, the agenda seems to be exactly the same.

Would you care to review and compare them? And perhaps review your statement as well of their difference being a matter of fact.

Change.gov isn't a campaign website, it doesn't make much sense to me that they would post the agenda and platform of their campaign on it. Especially since the agenda of Barack Obama the candidate, is still available on his campaign website.

Now that I've found the archived original website, apparently they did indeed include the agenda on change.gov, and I still stand by my opinion - they shouldn't have put it on the website. in the first place and here's why: change.gov for all effects is a Governmental website, and as such, shouldn't have any campaign related 'activities'.

I'm all for Barack Obama, or any other President/Elected Official, creating websites and or other methods to keep in touch with the public and provide information on what they are doing, or intend to do, but when they get elected, the campaigning is done and the two things shouldn't mix.

I'm not at all saying they should forget what they promised or what their platform was when they were just candidates, and that's exactly why I saw no problem with this particular issue, since his platform and agenda is still up on his campaign website so people don't forget.

I think change.gov, or any other website of the President/President-Elect or the Administration, however, should be used to communicate Governmental decisions and have nothing to do with campaigning. If those decisions/legislation/policies go against what they promised in the campaign, then they should be criticized, hard.
