this is my first post ever, was not sure where to post this.

what i witnessed was about a month ago.

my wife and i live in a two floor, two bedroom townhouse with two cats and a dog. the landing at the top of the stairs leads to both bedrooms, just turn left or right and you will wind up in a bedroom.
when we go to sleep, the blinds in both bedrooms are drawn shut and in our bedroom we have blackout curtains as well, as i used to work a pre-dawn shift, hence i needed the room dark. when we go to sleep at night, the dog sleeps with us and sometimes one of the cats will join us as well.

on this particular night, the dog and one of the cats was on the bed with us, while the second cat was asleep in the other bedroom, which is directly across from our bedroom. what happened was on a saturday night, it was about midnight and we were settling in. we heard some people outside, but thought nothing of it, since we live off a busy street. then about ten minutes later, the dog got up and was in guard dog mode and began to bark, facing the bedroom doorway. i sat up to figure out what he was barking at, since the townhouse was dark and there was no noise anywhere. my wife was already drifting to sleep while this went on.

then i saw something, basically an orb about the size of a baseball drifting in front of the bedroom and it went from right to left from my vantage point towards the stairs, going down, the dog was just staring at the doorway at this point. so it drifted by and then gone. i got up from the bed, moved the cat off my lap and went into the other bedroom, when i turned on the light, the second cat complained about the light being turned on. the second cat was asleep on the couch in the second bedroom and was curled up, head up meowing at me. so i know that the cats and the dog DID NOT move in front of our bedroom.

like i wrote before, what i witnessed was an orb about the size of a baseball drift in front of our bedroom, it NEVER came into the room, just went by. also it was definitely above the ground, i'd say bout three to six inches, from where i was sitting. so it was NOT a rodent.

personally i just don't know what to make of this, maybe it was a spirit, ghost or something to that effect, but not a light from the outside.

my questions are these:

has anyone else experienced this? especially with pets.

What could it be?

how common are orbs that float?

thank you for taking the time to read and reply.

Just wanted to say that the orb is spirit power in nature. You did not say the color it appeared so I am thinking it was like a light blub.

I have a long past of dealing with these type of issues that have to do with what we are in the universe. This orb could be a spiirit being or a visiting spirit from a loved one to protect you wellbeing usually with out notice. I have seen this work this way in my own family and with many friends.

May you have the light multiply to increase your knowledge and truth.

Animals at times can see objects that are in two dimensions at one time like light spheres.

what color was it? was it giving off light or was it shadowlike? did you have any 'weird' or strange thoughts at the time? any special 'feelings'? do you feel it had an intention or was it inanimate? there are so many questions i have before i could give you any info...

thank you so much for giving some idea as to what it was i saw. perhaps you are right, it may be a loved one just checking in and protecting.

as for the color, it was grey and like i said it was visible, but did not radiate any color.

thank you grock for your help.

to answer your questions:

what color was it?
-it was grey in color

was it giving off light or was it shadowlike?
-it did not radiate any color, but it was easy to see

did you have any 'weird' or strange thoughts at the time?
-no weird or strange thoughts at the time, just focused on what had the dog barking

any special 'feelings'?
-no special feelings, but i was very calm and it did NOT scare or startle me. just curious as to what it was, where it came from and if it was going to enter the bedroom.

do you feel it had an intention or was it inanimate?
-i did not feel it had any intention, except perhaps "just passing through".
as for it being inanimate, i could not tell you since i just observed from a distance and was not close enough to try and touch.

just a minor detail, i have seen a ghost before, i was 19 at the time and she just appeared in white and i saw a female face and like that it just disappeared.

i have had dreams with my dog from my childhood and he appears in my dreams when i am going through a tough period.

also back in march i had to put down another dog i raised from a puppy. he lost the ability to walk and was only getting worse.

the thing is this, a few months before i put him down i had a dream that i took him to say his good byes on a stretcher and then we went into a church. inside there were two wolves waiting for him, then he got up and walked towards the wolves and then the three of them went through a door that was brightly lit and then gone.

i was there with each dog when each of them passed and i held them both when they passed on and i told each one "i am right here, you'll know how to find me."

After reading the last of your reply to others I had a better idea of what you might have experienced because people can love dogs and dogs can love us humans also. I feel I know this for you could say I am an animal whisperer since I trained cats, dogs, mules and horses during my younger days.

I to had to get two dogs put down that hurt my heart badly. One I had had for over 14 years since the time we left the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific. His name was spot of course since it was the 50's that I got him. He would protect each of us kids by staying with us keeping an eye out for trouble. Once you got up to a certain age he would go to the next kid that was small & young. Once he even got a spanking along with my younger brother that had been missing so the police were looking everywhere to find the kid and the dog. They found the dog protecting my brother that was under the ad board like the old timers used to get sales going. They tried to pick him up but it was no way it was going to happen. Even my Mom tried to get Len and the dog stopped her with his mouth holding her arm as a warning not harm Len. Thus my Mom ended up spanking both of them for going out of the yard.

I have many things about that dog to share but you get the point. Spot was put down because a neigbhor fed him barricada bones and he had few teeth left so it had to happen for his good for no more pain. He wagged his tail and smiled at me before he went on to doggie heaven as my Mom told us.

Had another dog called Boo that was 8 years old when health problems got to him. I had to take him alone to the vet's and it was hard on me. I asked him if he didn't want to be put down then just stay down at the river.

I found out how much a dog could think for he came back in walked over to where I was sitting and actually climbed onto my legs in the chin area where he laid upon my feet and legs not touching the floor. He just leaned his weight against me letting me know it was time to go. It was one of the hardest things I ever did and I was in Veit Nam if you can understand.
Boo was loved by all the peoples we ever lived by for he was just that cool.

There are times that I do get the feeling that these dogs come by just to vist in a time of need for me or the family. Your dog is where mine are so I know they are doing great and just waiting for when we can play again.

I do believe that what you saw was from the spirits and nothing to harm you but to comfort you. Just have your inner being tuned in so they can make better contact. I have seen Sphers that were white and lite like a GE buld in a lamp. My grandma saved me once from burning up in a house fire that got all our stuff but the underwaer I had on.

Keep the faith there with the kind heart and may you be blessed in many ways since your heart is gold. So your dogs are friends of old...

thank you so much for posting,i had a very very similar experience about 3 years ago,i was asleep in the back room where it is very cold at night ,i had a makeshift bed on the floor for some reason forgot why,and my cat was on my bed sleeping.all of a sudden from a deep sleep he jumped up and was stareing down something in the kitchen,i i jumped up to see what he was looking at,just coming out of a deep sleep my eyes were a little groggy but i knew he had saw something.i sat up looked at him and which direction he was looking at,jumped out of my skin but wasnt scared that there was something moving in the kitchen,i got hold of him because i thought it was a rat or mouse and i didnt want him killing it,but when my eyes focused on it it was a very dull grey rugby ball shape size,i wasnt scared just shocked at seeing it,it was only just off the ground and glided very softly from one side of the kitchen to the other,it proved to me right there seeinf it that orbs are real and i dont mean the camera dustspecs, just an amazing experince that 2 people saw me and my cat.
