We can be assured Obama knew where Emmanuel had been. I would almost be sure this would be on Rahm's resume. I can't picture leaving out member of board of directors for a major Fortune 500 company. Lets not forget the shady connection Barack had with Fannie and Freddie as a representing lawyer.

Rahm Emmanuel has alot of dirt. Here's a story from Infowars that has some information about his terrorist father, as well as his desire to vastly expand the military and speculation on Obama's proposed Civilian Security Corps. Rahm Emmanuel and Obama's Civilian Security Corps

I wonder if his party base was the one that "told" Obama to appoint Rahm.

Marg, I would almost guarantee that is the case. In addition, virtually all of his other picks have already been made for him. Some things NEVER CHANGE. Oh, there is that word again-CHANGE. Excuse me,that reminds me, I have to go and change my new grandson's diaper. Boy, it smells also.

THE NEW VERSION OF GOD BLESS AMERICA.....

Pull the string and I'll wink at you, I'm your puppet
I'll do funny things if you want me to, I'm your puppet

I'm yours to have and to hold
Darling you've got full control of your puppet

Pull another string and I'll kiss your lips, I'm your puppet
Snap your finger and I'll turn you some flips, I'm your puppet

Your every wish is my command
All you gotta do is wiggle your little hand
I'm your puppet, I'm your puppet

I'm just a toy, just a funny boy
That makes you laugh when you're blue
I'll be wonderful, do just what I'm told
I'll do anything for you
I'm your puppet, I'm your puppet

Pull them little strings and I'll sing you a song, I'm your puppet
Make me do right or make me do wrong, I'm your puppet

Treat me good and I'll do anything
I'm just a puppet an you hold my string, I'm your puppet
Yeah, I'm your puppet

Walking, talking, living, loving puppet
I'm hanging on a string girl, I'll do anything now

I'm a walking, talking, living, loving puppet, and I love you

I'm a smiling happy face when you want me to
Even make you happy when you're feeling blue

REMEMBER THIS SONG?

I know, i'm an old phart.

But seriously, anyone who stands 3'5" tall and can do so much harm....Oh Obama, what have you done?????

Yes, it does. In fact, although one of the members posted the InforWars article about him, Jones failed to mention the following about Emmanuel:
blogs.suntimes.com...

Emanuel's Israeli father, Benjamin, is a pediatrician, and his mother, Marsha is a social worker. Emanuel is an observant Jew who did not, contrary to some of the mythology that has grown around him, serve in the Israeli army. Rather, Emanuel in 1991 volunteered for a few weeks in a program run by the Israeli army where civilians could help the Israel Defense Force with support work on an army base.

The reason this is so important, is that this explains where Obama got "his idea" about the new civilian gestapo force that he wants to create. It was ACTUALLY Emmanuel's idea, based upon his experience with the Israeli army. Notice how everything is starting to tie together.

A few more tidbits from the same source:

With Emanuel, Obama gets an enforcer, a bad cop who loves the f-word, with a unique resume no one else in the United States can match: the No. 4 leader in the House; veteran of seven years in the White House during the Clinton administration; a supreme media and political strategist who knows process and policy. He's also a close friend of Obama and David Axelrod, the mastermind who helped propel Obama from a state Senate seat in Chicago to the White House in four years.

and:

After seven years in Washington, Emanuel moved to Ravenswood, making millions of dollars as an investment banker in a few deals, and making more money when tapped by Clinton for a plum spot on the Freddie Mac board.

With Mayor Daley's backing, Emanuel won a House seat in 2002, quickly rising -- he has a seat on the Ways and Means Committee -- in no small part because of his ability to raise political money. In 2004, Emanuel was tapped by then-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to chair the Democratic House political operation, where he was the architect of the plan that resulted in the Democrats taking back the House in 2006.

Supposedly Emanuel was the model for Josh Lyman on the "The West Wing." Now he'll be Leo McGarry, Lyman's boss.

As Alice once said: “Curiouser and curiouser!”

Sad to say but Barack Obama won't be running the country when he is president. The reality is it will be nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid types making all of the decisions. A Dem controlled house and senate and a president means the congress with the 12% approval rating will have unlimited power of authority to spend all of our tax dollars any way they see fit. Look at his appointees they are all old rehashed faces of old nothing new to see. We asked for it and now we are gonna get it.

Marg, I definitely realize that I am lucky. All of our grandchildren keep us sane, they don't give us any lip, and as someone once said "Grandchildren are God's way of allowing grandparents to get even with their kids".

By the way, I just came across an article that said that every single one of Obama's advisers and apparent appointees are CFR members. That in itself is scary. Before I post that article, though, I want to check out that each name listed is, in fact, a member of the CFR, although I recognize some of the names that are CFR.

Rahm is insane - could anyone please refute that????????
I'm all ears.
The first thing Barry Soetoro did after declaring he was running for prez was to lobby the AIPAC. Is it just me or is this a MAJOR problem?!
Call me crazy but I thought this was a US election ...

From the same article (page 2) in the original post:

The role of the 18-member board of directors, including Emanuel, was not addressed in the SEC's public action but was heavily criticized by the oversight group (OFHEO) in 2003.

The oversight report said the board had been apprised of the suspect accounting tactics but "failed to make reasonable inquiries of management."

The report also said board members appointed by the President, such as Emanuel, serve terms that are far too short "for them to play a meaningful role on the Board."

I guess most of you read the little blurb in the original post and start your doomsday prophecies and moaning, rather than reading through the entire article.

They may have short time serving under their presidents but they are lobbying around in Washington for years, that is why they are rewarded during new presidencies.

More misinformation on Freddie and Fannie. When I have more time I plan to satrt a thread "The Real Truth about Freddie and Fannie" where I will go much further into detail about the completely misleading media coverage of Fannie and Freddie.

For the sake of this thread, I will simply state that the accounting scandal revolved around understating earnings. They made more money, at least accounting wise, then they reported to the public.

Why did this happen? Quite simply accounting rules were created (FRE and FNM lobbied against this - more misinformation concerning this as well). These accounting rules required FNM and FRE, and all other companies, to mark the value of the loans they held to current market prices. Sounds like a good idea? Well not really.

At the time of these occurances the loans FNM and FRE were holding and planned to continue to hold, were trading at 10-20% premium to face value. This was a result of then current rates being much lower than the rates on these mortgages. So a $100,000 mortgae was in fact selling for $115,000 or so. Since these loans were being held until maturity, regardless of market price they were only worth $100,000 to FNM and FRE.

So Fannie and Freddie didn't report the extra profits on those loans. A technical violation of the rules, but in retrospect they were really doing the right thing. They knew that these profits would have to be reversed in the future as the loans got paid down, so it made no sense to play that game of yo-yo accounting. Today those loans are worth 80 cents on the dollar and the yo-yo accounting has now forced these companies into questionable futures.

So basically Fannie and Freddie only did what was rational given the business they were in. The lobbying stuff was all in an effort to stop this mischaracterization of their portfolios. When all is known, folks willrealize that Fannie and Freddie were actually doing the right thing and are just being used a scapegoat to move theri business and profits into private hands.

Emmanuel was there and knows the truth. He will not let those who want to steal the GSE business to get their way. Much will happen before Jan 20.

You can be absolutely sure Obama knew about it. And being on the board doesn't mean Rahm did anything wrong. MANY people in Washington have some sort of connection with the economic crisis.

This is being blown way out of proportion, just as everything anti-Obama is these days.

Emanuel was chosen for his abilities, his knowledge and his close friendship with Obama. He will help Obama get stuff done.

The fact that Emanuel was on the board is indicative of NOTHING.

It's going to be a long 2 1/2 months...

In my humble opinion Mr. Obama chose Emmanuel for one reason... to send a clear and unequivable message... to his fellow Democrats about who is going to be in charge and its not going to be Reid or Pelosi... its going to be him.

I fully expect new house and senate whips to be chosen for the new congress and they will be chosen for their ability to keep the party in line and for their loyality to Mr. Obama.

In short he is sending a message that congress is not going to run rough shod over him.

When the game is hard ball you play hard ball.

What we can expect to see in Obama's selection of people is a lot of names familiar to the economic mess. They were ALL involved, they all have their arses to cover. Obama, or anyone else elected, would have to make the same type of selection for fear ONE might talk. Keep them close to keep an eye on each other.

I have not seen this question asked: Are we being lied to in regards to the bail-outs? That is to say we were told it is/was necessary. Was it really? Or are we being played BIG time?

It is just that there have been no mention of any outside accounting firm, economist, or anyone that has seen any evidence for the economic melt down...
EXCEPT for those now in charge of the oversight.

Recall, the first request for bailout included NO oversight. After the uproar for lack of oversight, we have the crooks that orchestrated this mess in charge of doling out the $.

Given the wool that has covered our eyes so many times... have they done it to us again?

I can not believe that nobody has told Obama about the rotten pass of this man.
