I love the way that Russia blamed us for the economic meltdown. Funny, I don't recall telling any other countries to invest in our mortgages. How is that our fault if they make dumb investments.

This could be the 'crisis' everyone is talking about.

Don't believe everything that article says. Medvedev blamed current administration for the financial crisis (who doesn't). That's it. There were no threats in his speech. He called Obama after the results came out and congratulated for the results. He said that he hopes that US and Russia will have better relationship with new government. He was happy that Obama won.

And for the missiles. What would US did if Russia planted missiles around US? They would put their missiles there that could intercept first one if they decided to attack

Did this ever demonstrate that Fox news is conservative propaganda in a big time way. First of all, theres no doubt in most of the world's mind that the big wigs in the US (not to mention the UK) orchestrated this "global meltdown" so this would calling the kettle black for a reason. Secondly, of course Russia is not going to accept this nuclear umbrella being put near them in Poland. Neither would US in a similar situation. This isn't unreasonable. For Fox news to suddenly portray this "problem" out of proportion, and once again to slander Russia by portraying them as the "bad guys" is pure propaganda and distortion of facts.
The only way to deal with Russia is called, diplomacy. And I hear honey works the best for this. After all, they are a super power and nothing can be done in military terms that won't endanger life on earth.
What a joke this story is!!!!!!!

And the title of this thread is unapropriate.
Same propaganda as Fox news.

This has been brewing for a while.

While the fight over S. Ossetia was coming to a close, Poland agreed to house the defense system on their soil, probably because they began to fear Russia again and desperately wanted a guarantee that allies would assist if they found Russia threatening them.

Judging by the desperation in the US about getting this shield up and running, I would assume they are close to starting construction, if they haven't begun already.

Russia did say that they would attack the installation, but they didn't say when. As they are stating that it would diminish their own defense, we can assume they would attack it as soon as it is capable of firing.

I honestly cannot see a way around this face-off at the moment.
The US is adamant that it must go ahead, and its capabilities cannot be diminished.
It would require one or the other to back down, and I don't imagine that either side will.

It's a shame that Poland are stuck in the middle of this. But it could get nasty for any other nation hosting this system too.

Actually Poland agreed to plant shield there because they said they will invest around $500.000.000 (i'm not sure about the real number but it's huge). Oh, did they forgot to mention this on Fox news

You should start watcjing some european news stations

The article and the thread's headline are complete BS. Medvedev made no threats in his speech - especially none directed at Obama.

Russia may be jumping on the band wagon here. But Medvedev's point is not that US is to blame. It is that the rest of the world, especially Europe, have their economies tied too closely to the US - and that that's the main problem. His point of view is that it is time for the world to look to new economic power houses - preferrably several not just a single one.

It is not right to blame the US - but Medvedev is playing the popularity card here. Hard to blame him.

True - US should not be blamed for decisions of others. European brokers and financial companies made a bad decisions just like US companies.

The issue for Russia is that it's economy suffered of the crisis despite the fact that Russian finance firms weren't involved in the US mortgage business. The effect on Russia was purely consequential. Because US and Europe got into this mess, they are dragging down other economies like Russia's which weren't directly tied to the root of the problem. So to an extent Russia may feel that the financial crisis is not its fault.

Russia never said this. It never stated that it will attack installations.

Your assumption is false. Where is this talk coming from? Russia never gave any indication that it will launch an attack on the missile sites.

Russia suffered badly in the beginning of October. However it wasn't just the markets - but more due to oil prices. Russian stock market is known for high volatility, so that wasn't a surprise. Plus Russian GDP depends less on the stock market than GDP of countries like US.

By the way - Russian stocks already rebounded considerably in the last 2 weeks. They had 5 straight days of increases. Also the Russian government has overstated the assessment of the crisis in October, and is now revising the loss estimates. Similar to the US, the Russian government has extended a huge credit facility to its banks, thanks to the large surplus the government has accumulated in recent years. Now the outlook for Russia is more optimistic than for US.

Furthermore, Obama has a real strength that will be an incredible asset in his dealing with Russia and any foreign powers, Diplomacy. Unlike Bush and his aggressive war mongering, walk over everyone with his boots and flagrantly disobey international laws, and rewrite his own laws giving him suddenly more powers than King George III was allowed by his own people, Obama will be a breath of fresh air.

No problem .... it just seems that FOX NEWS are trying to make people hate Russians. If you think how many people watched this. If just 10% of them believe this it's a huge number. The only things that came from Russia were just bad critics to the current government. The same critics same of 60%-70% of US and world population. So what did Russians did wrong here? Maybe FOX knows the answer

I do not think that anything foxsnooze says will steer the 'real' American public. Remember they put spin on all of their reports to make people think that they represent the way we think... Soon they will be exposed to the world at large. People have to wake up at some point.

This may be ok.
