Er... as far as I know, and as far as Wikipedia would indicate, gold is picked up by metal detectors, could be wrong though.

A simple scratch test should give you idea of the composition.

Since metal detectors use electromagnetic induction with alternating current, one could conceivably detect any conductive material even if it isn't metallic.

Kool find, what is interesting is there seems to be info on it for it points to a time or symble or something. Did not notice other rings on thread that had a pointer.
