I see families and friends ready to turn on each other

That is very Biblical BTW,

The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Until we have proven facts about anything, it is all speculation and theories.
There's a difference between speculating, and speculating wildly.
What most of the posts here are (unless it's one clearly supported by cold hard facts) is speculation.

I'm not trying to argue for the sake of arguing.
This is just the way it is.
Denying ignorance, and speculating are not mutually exclusive, they can, and often do, "go hand in hand"

Scientists Identify Brain's 'Hate Circuit'

The proverbs tell us that there's a fine line between love and hate, and new scans of the brain's "hate circuit" have confirmed similarities between the two powerful emotions.

We may use this area to judge the consequences of our actions and to predict the behaviour of our nemesis, Zeki says. "In love, you take leave of your senses and go wild for that person,

but in hatred it seems you must be all there to calculate your next move," he says.

I can see this going in a few directions.

1. Obama could know something we don't, and could be trying to help us prepare to defend ourselves from something we don't yet know about.

2. This could be an "under the table" attempt to arm the "average joe" equal to our military, so that we will finally get off our butts and take this government back and return it to something that even remotely resembles what the contitution intended.

3. I hate to agree with the fear mongerers but yes this could be some scary, insane hitler's brown shirt program.

4. Remember how shocked our national gaurd was when they got deployed to afghanistan and iraq? This could be the second wave of oversea forces who never expected to leave home.

5. It could be because of the fact that our military is stretched thin, and other countries don't like us so much anymore.
Who would defend us if we WERE invaded, and our entire military was on the other side of the world?

Who knows, without more information...
This could go in alot of different directions.

I do have to say though...
Bush TAKES AWAY your power as a citizen, and america collectively eats their TV dinners, while watcing survivor and doesn't bat an eyelash.

Obama talks of possibly EMPOWERING YOU again, and everyone runs around screaming "the sky is falling!"

Am I the last sane person left in america?

wow! at last some one with some real insight, I'm not American, so I'm not right in the middle of all that is going on over there, however for what its worth, obama seems sincere & appears to be the first leader who speaks about unity , empowerment for all people, sorry i fail to see any nazi connection in his words, watch what he says in his speech in Berlin, so what if there is a similarity in location as hitler, i don't hear any power hungry leader rather a humane kind aware man who has had enough of the tyranny of this world & wants to make a real difference to all its people, who are peace loving & fair, also i would more likely go along with your first suggestion that maybe he is trying to help you arm your selves for what we don't know but that is my 1st reaction also on listening to some of that speech, just maybe its time to stop buying into all their fear mongering & perhaps we need to start to have belief in a open free world where we really can be free & empowered no matter where we come from because its the beginning of a world of peace & truth, i for one would vote for him if i was over there,i only hope that my feelings are right,after-all enough is enough of the underhand tactics of so many world leaders, i hope & pray Obama is a new leader with real truth & love in his heart,

Ignoring the "fear"? So you decide to sit aside in a complacent manner, while a United States Presidential candidate himself stated that he wishes to create a Civilian National Security Force equivalent to the Military?

I find it highly ironic that the same individuals who have claimed President Bush "oppressed" their Constitutional Liberties, are actually defending someone who wishes to blow across that line instead of walking on it.

BTW, Senator Obama also made this very same proclamation at the Columbia University forum, so he has reiterated this desire on multiple occasions.

How can someone justify something that no one knows what it is.

Well, is that NOT the suspect aspect of this entire issue? No one even knows what this guy's true values and beliefs are, to the extent that we have no idea what he is actually declaring in his Proclamations. If Senator Obama was not so far to the left of American Politics, or so deceitful in all of his records, then maybe we would finally have some definite facts upon which to debate.

That is completely untrue. You just haven't looked for anything but dirt. Obama has displayed just as much of his opinions and life as McCain, if not more due to wild speculations of his "connection to a terrorist" or "marxism".

If true then the explanation could be very simple.

The US Constitution guarantees the right to a citizen's militia to bare arms. Trouble is Americans bare arms without belonging to a citizens militia.

By creating a citizen's militia, Government can determine that anyone who does not qualify to belong to that militia may be charged with unlawful possession.

HOORAY about time someone did something to stop High School massacres and the murder of Trick or Treating kids on Halloween.

You Americans are nutters about guns.

Yet, and little do you know, that the 2nd Amendment is the one founding Constitutional Right which guarantees and secures all other Amendments and Liberties. Without the Balance of Power guaranteed and secured between the Constituents and the Governing Body, through the Right to Bear Arms, the Constitution would have been torn to shreds long ago.

Obama is running for president and has been very clear that he does not believe the government should impede into banning guns outright.

Here are some quotes for you:

On The Issues

KEYES: [to Obama]: I am a strong believer in the second amendment. The gun control mentality is ruthlessly absurd. It suggests that we should pass a law that prevents law abiding citizens from carrying weapons. You end up with a situation where the crook have all the guns and the law abiding citizens cannot defend themselves. I guess that's good enough for Senator Obama who voted against the bill that would have allowed homeowners to defend themselves if their homes were broken into.

OBAMA: Let's be honest. Mr. Keyes does not believe in common gun control measures like the assault weapons bill. Mr. Keyes does not believe in any limits from what I can tell with respect to the possession of guns, including assault weapons that have only one purpose, to kill people. I think it is a scandal that this president did not authorize a renewal of the assault weapons ban.

So he believes assault rifles should be banned (I happen to agree - there is no need for the average person to have an assault rifle).

Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:

# Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
# Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
# Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.

Q: How would you address gun violence that continues to be the #1 cause of death among African-American men?

We've got to make sure that unscrupulous gun dealers aren't loading up vans and dumping guns in our communities, because we know they're not made in our communities.

Obama voted for a bill in the Illinois senate that allowed retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed weapons. If there was any issue on which Obama rarely deviated, it was gun control. He was the most strident candidate when it came to enforcing and expanding gun control laws. So this vote jumped out as inconsistent.

Q: Is the D.C. law prohibiting ownership of handguns consistent with an individual's right to bear arms?

A: As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can't constrain the exercise of that right, in the same way that we have a right to private property but local governments can establish zoning ordinances that determine how you can use it.

Q: But do you still favor the registration & licensing of guns?

A: I think we can provide common-sense approaches to the issue of illegal guns that are ending up on the streets. We can make sure that criminals don't have guns in their hands. We can make certain that those who are mentally deranged are not getting a hold of handguns. We can trace guns that have been used in crimes to unscrupulous gun dealers that may be selling to straw purchasers and dumping them on the streets. So, basically, your fears that if Obama is elected that all of your gun rights will be revoked isn't based off of reality. You will still be able to own guns, and if you can't, it won't be because of his policies, but rather local ones.

All I see in your post is Obama beating around the bush without having to clearly answer the questions put in front of him. The last question is a straight yes or no answer. Either he does or doesn't.

And banning all semi-auto guns isn't a good thing. My Remington 522 viper is semi-auto and no where near an assault rifle. But according to Obama because it's semi-auto and has a 10 round magazine it is? You tell your precious Obama if he wants to classify my guns as assault rifles and ban them then I want him to come get them from me personally.

I didn't need any proof before this. Does he not understand he will not be able to keep guns out of criminal hands? And then he wants to ban the guns of lawful citizens based solely on their appearance, operation(semi-auto),and their magazine size(10 rounds or more or external feed clips). The criminal elements will have a field day. It'll be like taking candy from a helpless baby when they rob someone and all we have to defend ourselves from criminals with real assault rifles we will be forced to defend ourselves with what? Single shot, bolt action, or muzzle loaders? Yeah that'll fix gun crime

I believe this formation of a civil force would be beneficial to us depending on who commanded it, who would they answer to?

I believe we need to do this, prepare for what could happen here, it is no joke that we are stretched to thin.

It is a great idea! I am voting for Obama, done deal. I want to join the force, may the force be with me!

One reason, gun confiscation by "official representatives of the government". Sounds like a book I read once but I will not say the name of it. Playing out just like the novel and I hope it ends the same way.

all i can say is that just maybe Obama,is more about peace & that his intentions are of that nature, after all gw sent more people to death row than any other governor but still you voted him in or rather you didn't but he stole the election & just look where that has got this world now.
Just perhaps Obama is about cooperation, understanding, diplomacy & Listening which just maybe is what this world needs right now because we all know the other way hasn't worked ever, time to wake up & create PEACE, then perhaps gun control wont be so much of an issue,he just strikes me as being sincere & someone who really does care for humanity,he seems real, not dressed up shouting about his god like gw was, or stumbling around like mccain, but more of a true believer like Kennedy,Lennon & Martin Luther King, & lets hope that unlike all of them he does get to stay alive & isn't taken out by some shady nutters who want power & control.
Obama's words do seem to resonate with acceptance of ALL people not just HIS beliefs, take a look at his berlin speech, & no I'm not being hypnotized just really feeling from my heart centre & he feels right for the time, in a good way and i think he speaks as though from a divine source, maybe that's it we are so used to all the logic that we have forgotten that just maybe we need leaders who really come with higher purpose, not like gw who just said he did, honestly if anyone is ac surely its more likely to b gw he certainly is in league with d devil, he just wants wars & $,it so obvious i don't understand why you Americans cant see that,Obama is totally different & doesn't appear to want power at all rather he wants to empower people as a whole,he is a born leader who leads form behind not out in front, even though he is creating a massive following he still seems sincere & humble,& REAL & at PEACE with himself.
If i was American i would want him in because at worst he will try & change things where as mccain will just be same old i don't want a world going the same way it is now, do you really?I also hope that he will stand up to the nutters and stop all their evil shenanigans in the woods etc, just perhaps he will really change things after all in a cosmic sense it will be historical and maybe that's a spring board for the next stage, i for 1 would rather trust a man who does know how it is rather than same blood line, all in the pyramid!! old rich unaware altered agenda crew, time for a real change on every level yeah bring it on, i hope what ever happens now we can begin to wake more up,course i would really like to know if he is part of their club?? but to be honest i some what doubt it,lets hope not.
peace to you all.

Get a freak'n grip and stop obsessing about race and skin color.
Your insinuations are pathetic.

I didn't say Obama wanted them. I said that they'd probably want to be a part of something militant. A National 'Security Force' sounds militant.

We're pretty sure what you meant by posting that video. Of course I'm not saying that was your intentions, but don't insult someone's intelligence when the two topics have the chance of correlating very well together. Yes, its jumping to conclusions, just as many of you in this thread have jumped to conclusions about a possible policy no one knows any information about.
