HEY thats what I was gonna suggest. Always works in my neighborhood. Street light acting up, shoot it with a pellet gun till it breaks. Then they have to come and fix it. Always works.

there are emmiters of electromgentism being put up everywhere,we are shrouded in a network of EM waves of everykind....god forbid should EM waves actually be harmful and cause cancers and effect the nervous system and functioning of the brain,or have the pontential to create a mind controled society.

it appears the citizens have no say in EM pollution and installation,but corporations have every right to install EM emmiters wherever they like.

yeah i know hun,but dont let it scare you or get you worried,its nothing really,some people have a whole future world against them!.
my advice would be to obtain an electromagentic sensor and place it on top of the box,and youl soon find out the freq and thus purpose of the EM waves its emmiting.

theres a 30ft antennai type device been errected in my neighbourhood and no one knows what it is either,the guy who lives next to it has all his windows covered with metal plates and aluminium foil......i think its about time we got onto the higher ups about the purpose and positioning of EM emitters,espescialy when in most cases they arnt actualy needed,no small neighborhood needs 11 full blown antennia arrays,mixed with emiiters and reflectors on top of most buildings and other bizzare EM emmiters!?,no where on earth!!

this second line isnt to get past the one line post issue, because really, i couldnt care less anymore. Stupid posts deserve simple one line rebuttals that are based on common sense.

I have a pretty strong feeling now that my continued perusing of ATS is going to be curtailed. I might end up going somewhere else that isnt as full of scaremongering, pandering, common sense lacking posters as ATS is.

My only point is this:

Why is it only on 2 lamp posts on my street (prob. the least populated) in a whole pretty large neighborhood (300 homes) full of houses. I jog up and down these streets close by everyday and have not seen one other box like this. Or did everyone fail to look at that aspect of my posts.

No, I am not ignoring anyone. I am considering all options. I tried to call the power company this afternoon and got the run around (again) so maybe I will have to do something else ie say it is broken or something.

The red note as it turns out is a city sticker that says it is a fine to steal the road sign that is attached to the pole.

However, I took my niece trick or treating in another city nearby and they had the exact same sticker on the back of a stop sign except it was gold colored.

I do not know if these things are relvant or not.

because maybe others like it arent so obviously placed, or are attached to the sides of buildings, or in trees... doesnt just have to be light poles. Google wifi in mountain view, CA has one that is stuck on the back of a mail-box.

no, they are not. The stickers on the back of road signs as a marker for an invading/suppressing force is total nonsense.

PLEASE- there is nothing sinister about this box. Just ignore it and go on about your everyday life. There are bigger issues to worry about. I promise, it'll still be there (if the citywide wifi or digital tv is still running) after Feb 5th 2009, december 2012, and august 2038... (maybe not the last one, hopefully we'll have internet beamed straight into our brains by then...)

You either have an important neighbor with an important job to do, requiring a secure satelite repeater, or wifi type component because you live way out where ever you live~
something along those lines. It doesn't seem too far fetched that if you had an astronaut or an agent or any of the people who do those types of things from home, that they would need specific 'out of the box' hardware to securely do their job.

Looks to me like its deffo an antenna or node for receiving or broadcasting some form of data, the fact it looks as if its been placed there on a trial run makes me think its probably WI FI and there testing an area's coverage, then it could be a cellular phone type receiver ? Looks out of place though what ever it may turn out to be.

just sell it at eBay.

This one is directly above a group of mailboxes, what about the other one? Is there a mailbox under it as well?
