The mayor of Chicago just said there are a million people expected at Obama's party at grant park. He also added that there would not be any special measures taken to screen people.

Im not sure where this belongs in terms of threads, but I truly feel this is asking for a major event to go down. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Well, lets just hope for these folks sake, that Obama wins.

What will happen to a million disenfranchised voters if he loses? Thats what frightens me.

If Obama wins, there most likely will not be an issue, minus the normal % of fools/idiots that start something everywhere they go.

Hmm pondering what I just read, because according to the article although almost 1500 have been laid off due to the bad financial condition of the city they paid this guy 100 an hr up to 60,000 total. To do what exactly if they arent having security check people in the first place?

Second ponder has me even more in thought exactly how many of these so called crack pot predictionist's have seen a massive attack on chicargo? This year no less. hmmmm

I think it's possible that something could happen but considering the amount of security around Obama I don't think anyone could manage to pull anything sinister.

It could be that they just aren't going to tell people that they will be screened prior to the event.

I don't know why he hasn't started the party now....I mean we all know he's won the election already...why does anyone even vote?

So if he loses will all of those people assemble together and riot?

There is so much that can happen with an un-organized crowd of this magnitude, be it riots (for a range of reasons), terrorist attacks and a plethora of other crimes.

I think all this spells is trouble. Chicago better think twice!

Many innocent people will be hurt...actual Obama supporters are going to be hurt. Lots of property damage. I'm glad i don't live in Chicago.

I dont think it matters if he wins or losses they will still probably riot afterwards. A lot of idiots out of 1 million.

Are you saying that will happen regardless of who wins the election? Are you expecting problems no matter what the outcome?

Hopefully the secret service doesn't let him down like they did here:
oops
Somebody pointed this article out in another thread, and I thought this would be a good place to bring it back up.

edit - fixed link
edit - After looking at the article again, I guess they count on the police to do the screening, so.....bummer.

'and it is chicago'

what in the world does that mean? Is chicago more riot friendly then other cities?
Just seems like an awfully big assumption to be making and a negative one at that well before the day is here. Manifest it and it will happen. Think hard enough and perhaps you will get your riot. Why you would want one is beyond me though. Why would ANYONE wish for a riot...

negitive is only because over the years when a million people for any reason come together there is violence and problems put a million people together where 24% have been doing drugs before hand 24% have been drinking before hand and the rest are just to nieve to understand that differant races of people will have conflicts be it small or not
then you have the 2 % of criminals gang bangers skin heads and other people who just want to cause trouble or commit crimes and you have a recipe for trouble and this is if obama wins the election

if he loses i see far reaching trouble not only in chicago but all over the country

Social behavior (mob mentality in specific) shows that a mouse could fart and it could set something off.

Put it this way 10 idiots start something, then everyone else jumps in not really knowing why they are. Many riots take off like this. Specifically it happened her in Tampa once when a band decided not to show up at a concert (though I cant recall which band).

Safety of the people should be priority. Chicago is mentioned because of the crime involved there. Correct me if im wrong but they just made murder capital of the US.

To top off, lets just say some trouble makers decide to show up. Stampedes themselves can be very deadly.

When did i ever imply i wanted to see a riot? "Chicago" is a corrupt crime ridled city, thats why i bring it up.

If obama loses i believe it will happen. I'm just stating that their anger will actually hurt the very people that were supporting him. Complete innocents will be physcially beaten and have their property stolen and damaged. This is what happens in riots.

Could there be riots if he wins? Sure....it's possible. But it won't be anywhere near the scale if it was the other way around.

when you type 'murder capital of the world' into Google you get 5 different answers not one of them being Chicago.

I see what you are saying about mob mentality, but if Obama wins, the crowd is going to be in a GOOD mood, not a bad one. Trust me, I know riots. Not only have they happened at a college I used to party at but they've also happened when the baseball team won the pennant (Detroit in 1984). I just feel that these people will be feeling positively not negatively and it seems like everyone in this thread is just assuming the worst out of human beings. People are good in nature, not bad.

First off I said murder capital of the US, not the world. I did the liberty of looking it up as said from my mouth above and it indeed is. (4th entry down confirms)

Second, A crowd does not neccesarily have to be in a bad mood to riot and the riots dont even have to be politically motivated especially with a crowd of 1 Million +. Its hard to wrap your head around those numbers.
