the founding fathers never intended the constitution to be used for so long, and could not possibly foresee how the American republic would operate in over 200 years.

The Constitution is tweaked when neccesary, and is done, by the people of the respective states by amendment. The Constitution is a document that defines the role of government, and the prohibitions of that government. We the people decide when the decument gets a tweak, not Barack Obama and the liberal socialist left.
Apperently, Barack is seeking to "right the wrong" by "reparations" for black people mostly due to the injustces of slavery long ago. The whole agenda seems to be fixed on "redistributing wealth" in that way, to that end.
But our country is not yet ready to become a socialist state. As this news becomes more known, Barack will lose grace with the voters and fall away. And we will still be a free capitalist society that rewards hard work with wealth. It's called the American dream.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama opposes offering reparations to the descendants of slaves, putting him at odds with some black groups and leaders.
The man with a serious chance to become the nation's first black president argues that government should instead combat the legacy of slavery by improving schools, health care and the economy for all.
"I have said in the past _ and I'll repeat again _ that the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed," the Illinois Democrat said recently.
