is the FAA secure???

About a week ago. My brother in law too me to a willow run airport. which is in Michigan.

My brother in law is a pilot for small planes and works as a instructor in Kansas and plans to move here in Michigan.

so we went to williow run to look at the flight schools there. We saw the schools their and then decided to check out a charter company.

Well we were by the companies hangar and building but were lost so we by mistake entered the airports tower. their was only a employee door to enter a lady came out and we asked here where was the charter company enterence and I guess she didn't hear us fully so she told us to enter this door which was employees only so we did and went upstairs and we saw the tower and a couple people there talking on the radio with airplanes.

My brother in law told me this must be the tower and he said ever since 911 they made the towers highly secured so we laughed.

we stood there watching people go passed us and no one even asked who we are. So we watched them since we do have interests in airplanes and got a kick of seeing what takes part at the tower.

we also saw maps of all airports in the U.S and also military bases.

then my brother in law after an hour passed got to talk to a lady in the tower and we asked if she knew where the charter company enterence is located.

She asked us who we are and did someone escort us up here. My brother in law told her one of their employees told use this was the charter company entrance and the lady said well your not supposed to be here. I will escort you to the charter company and so she did and when we came out we also notice she was watching us closely.

I think that employee did got fired lol.

My point to posting this is how strict is the FAA and the towers in security???


I just thought that how can just an ordanry guy like me and my brother in law bet able to get into the tower that easily.

I mean we were lost but If someone really intended to do something bad they seriously could of done something that day.

So when we left we told our friends about it and some of them said they know because 9 11 was a inside job and we have no threat. it's just more control on the system.

I would like to know what you think of this.

this airport is not for commercial plans that take passengers it's more of a cargo airport.

GM, FORD and even fedex and many well known companies do fly their cargo in and out of that area.

I would like to know what you guys think of this.

If a terrorist wanted to attack the US. I dont think it would much of a problem. Our security isnt that great. And this proves that. Being able to move around the control tower at the airport that is scary. Thank Goodness you are a good person with good intentions. But what if you were someone else? We are not safe here in the US. Scary stuff!!!!!!!!!!!

I drive by willow run regulary. I see military planes on the ground often. Yes, some are ALWAYS on the ground but they are moved. It is interesting to note here that my interest in tacmars (tactical markers used by the military are abound on I94 which runs E W through mid Michigan) and while you are on Ecorse rd there are many industrial buildings for sale and wired off.
I don't believe willow run is as insignifigant as soom would like us to believe.

oh... cool. me and my brother in law went their looking for flight schools.

This is what happen when we got there since we live a ways away from that area we got lost easily even on the airport. So before we know it we by mistake entered the tower without know it was the tower entrance.

I also notice factories and other buildings in the area up for sale. I am sure now the people that work at the tower will be more secure after finding out use regular people getting lost and finding a entrance to the tower.

I also heard they are going to merge willow run with metro airport.

No its not secure.
BUT!
If they want to attack they will.

The alternative is to have military people with machine guns guarding all important areas, you all know how good that works, In countries where they do have high risk of attacks, they post guards, dosnt seem to stop a guy with some bombs in the back of his car, or a women strapped with explosives does it.

Where were you and your bro going anyway? In your OP you say you hung around the tower for an hour?
Why would you do that?
Just wondering.......
